East Bengal transfer news: The Red and Gold side have a big summer transfer window ahead of them, where they will need to build a squad which is capable of challenging for the top six. In spite of dominating the I-League for the entirety of their stay in the competition, the historic club hasn’t been able to carry over their success into the ISL just yet.

Their first few seasons in the competition have been thoroughly disappointing in comparison to their past success. Australian defender Jordan Elsey signs for East Bengal

The Torch Bearers have reinforced their backline by signing 29-year-old Australian centre-back Jordan Elsey from A-League club Perth Glory. The player made a name for himself by winning numerous trophies with Adelaide Untied before moving to the Newcastle Jets. He will be moving to the ISL after a brief spell with Perth, and joins Jose Antonio Pardo Lucas as the new central defenders for the club this summer.

East Bengal have now confirmed the arrival of Javi Siverio as well, with the Spaniard making the move from Hyderabad FC, like his teammate Borja Herrera. The forward will be wearing the number 99 jersey for the Red and Golds this coming season, and will be an important part of their attack.

The team struggled to score goals this past season, while Sivero was able to score 5 in 20 games, with limited minutes. As a result, the expectation will be for him to raise their offensive output in the coming season.

Former Hyderabad FC midfielder Borja Herrera has joined East Bengal for the 2022/23 season, signing a one-year deal with them. The Spaniard’s arrival has been officially announced by the club on their social media platforms.

This past season, he scored four goals, provided five assists and created 32 chances for the Nizams in 22 league games. As a result, he will prove to be a huge addition for the Torch Bearers, and could finally help them play more attacking football than they have in recent years.

The former Odisha FC winger has officially completed a switch to East Bengal, as confirmed by the club on their social media accounts. Nandha has signed a three-year deal until 2026, and will be a great addition to the team for the coming season. In 2022-23, he scored eleven goals and helped Odisha win their first ever piece of silverware in the Hero Super Cup, and now, he has a new challenge to take up with the Kolkata club.

East Bengal have officially confirmed the arrival of Mandar Rao Dessai on a free transfer. The left-back has made the move to the Red and Gold club after spending three years with Mumbai City FC. This past season, he made only 16 appearances across all competitions and played for 898 minutes. And he will be the replacement for Jerry, who has left the club upon the expiry of his contract.

Kerala Blasters defender Nishu Kumar has completed a loan move to East Bengal for the 23/24 season. The full-back is very good with both feet, and can play on either flank, which is a remarkable ability. As a result, he will be a unique player who could help Carles Cuadrat set up for the coming season.

The pair worked together at Bengaluru FC when the club won the ISL title in 2018. And now, they have reunited in Bengal, and will be looking to deliver a positive season ahead.

The departure of head coach Stephen Constantine also played a part in the clearout following the expiry of their contracts.

The new arrivals will have time to fit in with the existing players, and will have a complete pre-season to get settled and find a cohesive pattern which is effective for them this season.
