Chennaiyin FC transfer news: After an eighth placed finish in the ISL and failing to qualify for the knockout stages of the Hero Super Cup as well, the South Indian club have a lot of rebuilding to do in the off-season. 

Here is the most recent update on Chennaiyin FC’s transfers, as they are looking to restructure their squad for the upcoming season. However, it has been confirmed that they have also terminated their association with head coach Thomas Brdaric. In the previous season of the ISL, the team secured the eighth position on the table but unfortunately did not qualify for the knockout stages.

They were also unable to make it to the knockout stages of the Hero Super Cup. As a result, the board has decided to part ways with the former German international after only one season in charge, and look for another head coach to lead them forward in the coming season.

“Chennaiyin FC thanks Coach Thomas for his contributions and passion for the craft and wishes him the best for all his future endeavours. The club will make a decision on the head coach for the 2023-24 season shortly,” an official statement from the club read. 

Owen Coyle is being linked with a return to the club, but an official announcement is pending in order to confirm his appointment as the new head coach of the first team.

Chennaiyin FC have confirmed the departures of Vafa Hakhamaneshi, Kwame Karikari, Fallou, Petar, Dukker, and Nasser from their first team fold in the off-season. The players will be moving on following the expiry of their contracts with the club, and are now free to agree a contract with other teams.

The club has also bid farewell to midfielder Edwin Vanspaul, who has agreed to join East Bengal ahead of the coming season.

Club captain Anirudh Thapa has left the club and joins Mohun Bagan for the coming season. The transfer fee involved is a record Rs 3 crore, which will see the midfielder sign a five-year deal. And it has now been confirmed by Mohun Bagan officially.

The team has not confirmed any new arrivals as of yet. But, they are in talks with former East Bengal player Ankit Mukherjee for a transfer in the coming weeks. It is also being rumored that as many as six new foreign players could join before the start of the season.
