EA announces beta test for ‘Battlefield Mobile’ coming this fall

Smartphone hardware has been getting more powerful with each iteration in recent years and mobile gamers sure stand to benefit. The popular Battlefield series is set to join the slew of PC games now playable on mobile. EA announced that this autumn, it plans to roll out a beta test for Battlefield Mobile for players in Indonesia and the Philippines.

This is only a small testing, with promises of new regions to be added in the future. Pre-registration is not yet available. However, EA has stated that once they are ready to broaden the BETA test, they will release a pre-registration form that will notify you when the game is going to be available in new regions. EA said once the game is available in your region, you will be able to pre-register on the Google Play Store.

Those who are first to respond will be allowed early access to the playtesting for their region. These spots are likely to fill up quickly, so unfortunately only a limited number of players will be able to participate. Testing will be only available only on Android and will require at least Android 7.0 in order to function properly, though the full game will eventually be available to all on the App Store and Google Play sometime in 2022.

The current playtest that has been announced features the Grand Bazaar map only and only one mode, Conquest. The game will have its own Battle Passes, cosmetic items, and unlockable items. This is not representative of what the actual game will look like, but we expect to be given more updates as the actual launch for the game gets closer. The official game will have no cross-play option. The new mobile version will be entirely separate from the console and PC versions of Battlefield.

Oscar Gabrielson, General Manager of EA DICE, said earlier this year when Battlefield Mobile has been announced. “It’s a completely different game than the ones we make for consoles and PC, and it’s built specifically for the mobile platform.” He added that Battlefield Mobile will be a “full, skill-based” game.

Battlefield Mobile doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the game is set to release in 2022.
