Chelsea have completed the signing of Dujuan Richards on a pre-contract agreement. The West London club have fended off competition from Newcastle United to sign him. He had a trial with them last month, but has been signed by the Blues who have acted fast to seal the deal.

Richards has signed from Phoenix All Stars, and scored 31 goals while providing 19 assists across all competitions last season.

‘History has been made. The Phoenix All Stars Football Academy is proud to announce that Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, who has been with us since 12-years-old, has put pen to paper and signed his pre-contract with Chelsea FC in England and will be plying his trade in the Premier League,’ Craig Butler, the founder of the Phoenix All Stars academy revealed.

‘This has been a long road and one that has made us exceptionally proud of his loyalty and undying faith in me and our team at Phoenix. We are grateful to Chelsea Football Club and look forward to the continued relationship and partnership with our academy as we prepare Whisper for the Premier League.’

Chelsea have signed some of the biggest young talents across the world since the arrival of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. And Dujuan Richards becomes the latest to join that list as a player for the future.
