The Anniversary Posts That Broke the Internet (A Little)

On February 21, director Ashwath Marimuthu took to social media to celebrate Dragon’s first birthday with a heartfelt note about what it meant to work with Pradeep, acknowledging that when close friends collaborate, the relationship itself is on the line — but that very pressure pushed them to deliver. He closed the post with a line that sent fans into a frenzy, confirming he and Pradeep plan to return together for a second outing.

Pradeep then reposted the message, adding “Coming soon” — and sealed the hint by sharing a photo of two dragons. If that’s not as clear a sequel tease as you can get without an official announcement, nothing is.

The friendship-turned-collaboration angle makes this particularly sweet. Transitioning from a personal relationship to a professional one is never easy — Pradeep himself acknowledged it took him some time — but Dragon clearly proved the bond was built to handle the pressure.

A Quick Recap: Why Dragon Worked So Well

Dragon is a coming-of-age comedy-drama centred on Raghavan, a college dropout who fabricates an entire professional life to keep up appearances with his family. When his girlfriend leaves him, it jolts him into reality and forces him to build something genuine — only for his deceptive past to resurface and threaten everything he’s built. It’s a simple premise executed with tremendous warmth, a terrific ensemble, and Pradeep’s effortlessly charming screen presence.

The film became the 2nd highest Tamil grosser of 2025, surpassing Madha Gaja Raja’s lifetime numbers — a genuinely remarkable achievement for a mid-budget comedy-drama.

What’s Next for Pradeep?

Before Dragon 2 takes shape, Pradeep is set to appear in Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), a sci-fi romantic comedy directed by Vignesh Shivan with Krithi Shetty as co-lead — slated for 2026. He was also recently seen in Dude, a romantic comedy about two cousins in a fake marriage scenario.
