This groundbreaking technology is set to reshape the way we perceive sound in our living rooms, and leading the charge is TCL, a renowned name in the world of televisions. Scheduled for integration into TCL’s 2024 TV lineup, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect aims to establish a new benchmark for TV sound, elevating home entertainment to unprecedented heights.

Unveiling Dolby Atmos FlexConnect

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is not just an evolution but a revolution in the realm of audio technology. This pioneering feature seamlessly marries a television’s existing sound system with wireless accessory speakers, culminating in an immersive Dolby Atmos sound encounter like never before. By intelligently optimizing sound for any room layout and speaker arrangement, it succeeds in transforming every seating position into the ultimate sweet spot, enveloping viewers in a rich soundscape that transcends traditional boundaries.

The Partnership between Dolby and TCL

TCL, a global leader in TV manufacturing, has been chosen as the torchbearer for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. This strategic collaboration is indicative of the cutting-edge prowess both companies bring to the table. Frédéric Langin, Chief Commercial Officer of TCL Europe, emphasizes the customer-centric approach, asserting that Dolby Atmos FlexConnect enables users to revel in immersive audio, irrespective of their chosen arrangement of audio devices. This partnership echoes TCL’s commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences to its customers.

Adaptive Sound: A New Perspective

John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, articulates the essence of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect by stating, “Consumers shouldn’t have to move their furniture to experience better audio, but rather audio should adapt to them.” This sentiment forms the core of the FlexConnect technology. In rooms of varying sizes and layouts, the placement of speakers can be a challenge. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect liberates users from this constraint by allowing wireless speakers to be positioned anywhere in the room, ensuring optimal audio dispersion regardless of the setup.

Unveiling the Benefits

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect ushers in a multitude of benefits that transform how we perceive and enjoy sound in our living spaces:

Elevating Immersion: Already renowned for its enveloping sound experience, Dolby Atmos now gains a new dimension with FlexConnect. By integrating accessory wireless speakers, viewers can ascend to new heights of audio performance, taking their entertainment journey to the pinnacle of immersion.
Flexible Speaker Placement: Gone are the limitations of traditional speaker placement. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect offers the freedom to position speakers wherever convenience dictates, capitalizing on room dimensions, furniture arrangement, and power outlet locations without compromising sound quality.
Simplicity in Setup: Setting up Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is a breeze. It requires no additional equipment or intricate cable connections. The technology employs Dolby acoustic mapping, harnessing the microphones within the TV to pinpoint the location of each wireless speaker. This automated calibration ensures an optimal audio experience with minimal hassle.
Dynamic Audio Balancing: The intelligence of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect extends to dynamically balancing audio distribution. The technology ensures that sound is intelligently spread from the TV speakers to the accessory wireless ones, tailoring the sound signal based on each speaker’s capabilities and position. This dynamic balance guarantees a consistently superior performance.
