Digger Official Trailer Out: Tom Cruise in Iñárritu’s Wild New Satire

Get the breakdown of Warner Bros.’ Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise as a chaotic fixer tackling an $18 trillion disaster.

Why Tom Cruise’s Digger Is the Most Audacious Satire of 2026

What do you get when you pair one of the world’s most fearless action stars with a four-time Academy Award-winning visionary director? You get Warner Bros. Pictures’ Tom cruise’ movie, a biting, high-octane political satire that marks the highly anticipated collaboration between Tom Cruise and director Alejandro G. Iñárritu (The Revenant, Birdman).

Controlling the Chaos and Narrative in Digger

The film places Cruise in the role of “Digger” Rockwell, a powerful, eccentric corporate fixer and platform operator. It is a man who measures crises against the size of his own ego, outright refusing to shut down his multi-billion-dollar operation over a “five-foot crack” in an ice sheet. That is, until the situation spirals into a global, $18 trillion environmental disaster, complete with shifting glaciers, nuclear waste threats, and a helpless White House.

As the president notes with dry irony, “Digger here got us into this mess and Digger’s gonna dig us out”. What follows is a brilliant, manic race against both time and public relations. Since they cannot control the terrifying forces of nature, This Film and the political elite decide to do the next best thing: control the media narrative. Backed by a pulsing, high-energy soundtrack—including Talking Heads’ classic Burning Down the House—the movie takes a hilarious but unsettling dig at greenwashing, political incompetence, and the sheer absurdity of modern crisis management.
