Dhruva Natchathiram Release Date Update — Chiyaan Vikram’s 11-Year Wait Just Got a Little Longer!

Tamil cinema fans, brace yourselves — one of the most anticipated spy thrillers in recent memory has hit yet another roadblock. Dhruva Natchathiram, Chiyaan Vikram’s passion project directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has reportedly been pushed from May 2026 to June 2026, and honestly, at this point, the delays have become a saga of their own.

Dhruva Natchathiram — Everything You Need to Know

Why the Delay This Time?

Although all hurdles were expected to be cleared for a May 2026 release, the film now appears to be eyeing a June 2026 window instead, with the makers yet to make any official announcement on the release date.

The key factor? Timing. Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is also expected to release soon after being delayed due to CBFC certification issues, with reports suggesting it may finally hit theatres on May 24, 2026. With Jana Nayagan’s release looming around the same window, it appears that Dhruva Natchathiram may have strategically shifted its plans to June 2026 to avoid a clash.

What Is Dhruva Natchathiram About?

The film is a spy action thriller set in the same shared universe as Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha. It follows a covert operative leading an elite team called “The Basement,” whose mission is to discreetly dismantle terror organisations without being bound by law enforcement constraints.

The ensemble cast alongside Vikram includes Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, R. Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran, and Vinayakan in key roles.

The Long Road to Release

The film was initially announced with Suriya in 2013. After Gautham Vasudev Menon shelved the project citing creative differences, he revived it in 2015 with Vikram in the lead. Since then, the film has faced multiple production hurdles including the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to its prolonged release timeline.
