Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Debut to Feature Exclusive Tengen Uzui Short in Japanese Theaters

As anticipation builds for the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, a special treat awaits fans of the flamboyant Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui. In collaboration with Toho Cinemas, renowned animation studio ufotable is introducing a newly-animated short film starring Tengen and his three wives. This short won’t be available globally or even online—it’s strictly an in-theater experience in Japan. Designed as an “etiquette” reminder, the short serves as a playful yet essential guide on maintaining decorum during screenings. The exclusive feature will be showcased across select Toho theaters from June 20 to July 17, making it a must-see for diehard supporters of the franchise.

Sound Hashira Returns with Style

Fans of Demon Slayer will recognize Tengen Uzui for his flamboyant personality, flashy combat techniques, and strong familial bonds with his three wives—Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma.

These short pre-show etiquette clips are not merely instructional; they bring beloved characters into the theater environment, blending fandom excitement with cinema courtesy. While teaser footage has hinted at the humor and charm the etiquette short will carry, the complete animation remains exclusive to in-person attendees.

A Tradition of Theater Etiquette Shorts

These cinema etiquette animations are a familiar concept in Japan, particularly with high-profile releases. They often deliver amusing yet effective reminders to silence phones, avoid talking, and maintain respect for fellow audience members.

By incorporating fan-favorite anime characters, these etiquette videos enhance the experience, offering a bonus reward before the main feature begins. Tengen Uzui’s appearance continues this tradition, adding an additional layer of excitement for fans awaiting the monumental Infinity Castle arc.

Infinity Castle: The Final Battlefield

The highly anticipated Infinity Castle film, set to premiere on July 18 in Japan, marks the beginning of the anime’s climactic trilogy. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment secured distribution rights for a global release, excluding specific Asian territories and Japan. This installment propels Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko, and their allies into the demon stronghold—an intricate and ever-shifting fortress known as Infinity Castle.

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by ufotable, the film features meticulous animation direction by Akira Matsushima, with music from celebrated composers Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, who continue to shape the emotional tone of the series.

The Road to the Infinity Castle

The narrative trajectory leading to Infinity Castle has been intense and emotional. Tanjiro’s growth, both as a fighter and as a person, has unfolded alongside comrades Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. From battles on the Mugen Train with Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku to confrontations in the Entertainment District with Tengen Uzui, and further challenges alongside Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji in the Swordsmith Village, every arc has elevated the stakes.

With the Demon Slayer Corps undergoing rigorous Hashira Training in preparation for their ultimate confrontation, the sudden appearance of Muzan Kibutsuji at the Ubuyashiki Mansion triggers a sequence of events that plunges the protagonists into the Infinity Castle. This ominous stronghold will set the stage for the final showdown between humanity’s finest demon slayers and the powerful forces of Muzan’s demonic army.
