Our comprehensive guide breaks down everything you need to master this thrilling achievement.

Mafia: The Old Country Daredevil Achievement Quick Facts

Understanding the Daredevil Challenge

To net the Daredevil achievement, your car must be airborne for over 40 meters in Mafia: The Old Country. This isn’t about distance traveled on the ground—it’s specifically about air time and horizontal distance while your vehicle is completely off the ground.

What Counts as “Airborne”?

The game measures the horizontal distance your car travels while all four wheels are off the ground. This means you need significant speed, a good launch angle, and preferably some elevation to achieve the required 40+ meter jump.

Step-by-Step Strategy for Success

1. Choose the Right Vehicle

Select a fast, lightweight car that can build up substantial speed. Sports cars and lighter vehicles typically perform better for jumping than heavy trucks or armored vehicles.

2. Scout for Ideal Locations

Look for these key features in the game world:

• Hills with steep drops – Natural elevation provides extra distance
• Construction ramps – Man-made structures often offer perfect launch angles
• Bridge approaches – Some bridges have ramps that work excellently
• Quarry areas – Mining locations often have elevated platforms

3. Build Maximum Speed

Start your approach from a significant distance to achieve top speed. Use the longest straight road available leading to your chosen jump point.

4. Perfect Your Timing

Release the accelerator just before takeoff to prevent the car from nosediving. This helps maintain a flatter trajectory for maximum distance.

Best Locations for the 40-Meter Jump

While specific location details vary based on your current mission progress, here are general areas that typically offer excellent jumping opportunities:

Urban Areas

• Construction sites with wooden ramps
• Bridge approaches leading to elevated sections
• Hills overlooking the city with natural drop-offs

Rural Sicily

• Mountain roads with cliff edges
• Quarry locations with elevated platforms
• Coastal areas with elevated seaside roads

Pro Tips for Achievement Success

Speed Management

Maintain consistent high speed but avoid overdriving into turns before your jump. The key is smooth acceleration leading directly to the launch point.

Camera Positioning

Use the chase camera angle to better judge your approach and landing trajectory. The third-person view provides better spatial awareness than cockpit view.

Practice Makes Perfect

Don’t get discouraged if your first few attempts fall short. You can unlock all trophies in about 15 to 20 hours, so there’s plenty of time to perfect your stunt driving skills.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Insufficient Speed

Many players attempt jumps without building enough velocity. Always start your approach from maximum distance to ensure top speed at takeoff.

Poor Launch Angles

Jumping off surfaces that point downward will reduce your airborne distance. Look for level or slightly upward-angled launch points.

Heavy Vehicles

Using trucks or armored cars makes achieving the required distance much more difficult due to their weight and lower top speeds.

Alternative Approaches

If you’re struggling with natural terrain jumps, consider these alternatives:

• Mission-specific opportunities – Some story missions may present ideal jumping scenarios
• Free roam exploration – Take time to thoroughly explore Sicily’s diverse landscape
• Multiple attempt strategy – Try different vehicles and approaches until you find your sweet spot
