It’s official and there’s no reading between the lines on this one. CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed in plain terms that Cyberpunk 2077 will not receive any additional DLC or expansions. In response to a fan asking for more content on the official Cyberpunk 2077 X account, CDPR replied: “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!”

Why There Won’t Be Another Expansion — The Technical Reason
This isn’t just a resource decision — there’s a technical ceiling too. CDPR’s SVP of Business Development Michał Nowakowski explained the situation plainly: “It’s a technological decision, to be honest. This is the last time we’re working on the Red Engine for the time being at least, and in the foreseeable future as you know we are working on the Unreal Engine from Epic. This was one of the key reasons why we decided this was the only one.”
Building new DLC on a legacy engine the team has already moved away from isn’t just difficult — it’s impractical. The entire studio has shifted to Unreal Engine 5 for future titles, and investing development time back into Red Engine for one more Cyberpunk expansion simply doesn’t make sense.

What CDPR Is Actually Working On
The studio isn’t idle — it’s just pointed somewhere else entirely. Cyberpunk 2, known internally as Project Orion, is confirmed to be in development and will introduce a new city described as similar to “Chicago gone wrong.” Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 is also confirmed, featuring 10 episodes animated by Studio Trigger and streaming on Netflix.
CDPR’s CFO Piotr Nielubowicz has hinted that “new content” for an unnamed game could launch in 2026, and Polish Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski published a report in December stating: “We expect the next paid add-on for The Witcher 3 to be released in May 2026.” That new Witcher 3 DLC — reportedly in development at Fool’s Theory and set near Velen — is the content fans are now redirecting their hopes toward. CDPR has stayed conspicuously quiet on this, which is its own kind of signal.
Meanwhile, The Witcher 4 remains the studio’s main current project and is expected in 2026 or 2027. A Fortnite x Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration has also been teased by Epic Games, and CDPR is selling a Cyberpunk 2077 5th Anniversary Collector’s Set for dedicated fans.
Is Now a Good Time to Play Cyberpunk 2077?
Absolutely. The game that shipped in 2020 is almost unrecognisable from what exists today. The 2.0 update overhauled the skill tree, combat, police system, and vehicle customisation. Phantom Liberty added a full spy-thriller story expansion with new mechanics. Night City is now a stable, living world, recently cemented by its inclusion in subscription services as the final stage of its lifecycle. With the game now on Game Pass and regularly discounted to around $30 on sale, this is the best time to experience it for the first time or return after a break.
