Crunchyroll, the global anime streaming service, has officially launched its digital manga service in India, making over 250 manga titles available to subscribers. The expansion integrates manga reading directly into the Crunchyroll platform through a new Ultimate Fan membership tier.
The announcement was made by Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini during the company’s inaugural Anime Future Forum in New York City. India is among several English-speaking international markets where the service is now accessible, aiming to provide a unified destination for anime and manga enthusiasts.
Crunchyroll Membership and Content Details
The Ultimate Fan membership, priced at INR 299 per month or INR 999 annually, grants subscribers ad-free access to both Crunchyroll’s extensive anime library and the newly introduced manga collection. The service is available on iOS, Android, and web platforms.
Initial offerings include notable series such as *The Apothecary Diaries*, *My Dress-Up Darling*, *Bocchi the Rock!*, *Bungo Stray Dogs*, *Delicious in Dungeon*, *Lycoris Recoil*, and *Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!*. The launch features titles from publishers including J-Novel Club, Square Enix, and Yen Press, with additional content, including action manga from VIZ Media, scheduled for future release.

Crunchyroll Manga offers features such as unlimited ad-free reading, offline access, full two-page spreads, personalized reading lists, and curated recommendations. The platform is designed to allow users to seamlessly transition between manga and its anime adaptation. The service is powered by Link-U Group, a Japanese digital manga service developer in which Crunchyroll (https://www.crunchyroll.com/) has made a minor investment.
Strategic Expansion and Market Context
Asa Suehira, Chief Content Officer at Crunchyroll, emphasized the interconnectedness of anime and manga culture. “For years, fans have asked us to bring manga closer to their Crunchyroll experience, and we are excited to make that a reality for more fans around the world,” Suehira stated. “Expanding into new territories and languages is an important step toward making Crunchyroll an even more complete home for anime fans everywhere.”
The expansion builds on existing market trends within India, which ranks highly globally for digital manga engagement. Data indicates that 81% of Indian anime fans read digital manga at least monthly, with over half (56%) engaging weekly. Globally, 69% of anime viewers across 11 surveyed markets read digital manga monthly or more, and Crunchyroll users are reportedly 1.4 times more likely than non-users to read digital manga weekly.
This launch further solidifies Crunchyroll’s position in the digital content space, following its prior introduction of manga services in other markets. For more on similar industry developments and the latest tech appliance news, visit TechnoSports (https://technosports.co.in/).
