Como vs RB Leipzig Match Preview, Prediction, Timings, Lineups, Teams, and How to Watch

Como’s fairytale rise reaches its biggest milestone yet on Thursday, as Cesc Fabregas’s side host RB Leipzig in their first-ever Champions League fixture. It’s a remarkable moment for a club that was playing in Serie D as recently as 2019 — and now welcomes Europe’s elite to the tiny Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Como sealed a club-record fourth-place Serie A finish last season, winning four of their final five games to leapfrog AC Milan and Juventus. Backed by heavy investment, they’ve built a squad brimming with attacking talent around Nico Paz and Moise Kean, while also boasting Serie A’s best defensive record last term with 19 clean sheets. They’ve beaten both Napoli and Genoa away this season and trail only Inter Milan in points accumulated this calendar year.

Leipzig, meanwhile, are back at Europe’s top table under new boss Martin Demichelis after finishing third in the Bundesliga. Their Champions League pedigree includes a 2020 semi-final run, but recent European away form is worrying — just one point collected from their last six Champions League road trips.

Como vs RB Leipzig: Match Details

Key Team News

Como are nearly at full strength, with only long-term absentee Jayden Addai missing. New signing Moise Kean, who has five goals in six previous Champions League appearances, adds firepower alongside top scorer Tasos Douvikas.

Leipzig travel without Rocco Reitz, Romulo, and top scorer Christoph Baumgartner, while Brajan Gruda and Assan Ouedraogo are doubts. New arrival Marc Guiu and loan return Christopher Nkunku bolster their attack.

Possible Lineups:

• Como: Butez; Couto, Chalobah, Ramon, Valle; Perrone, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas
• RB Leipzig: Vandevoordt; Baku, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; El Aynaoui, Seiwald, Banzuzi; Bakayoko, Nkunku, Nusa

Prediction

Leipzig carry more European pedigree, but Como’s slick attacking play and long-awaited return to home turf should give them the edge on their historic Champions League debut.
