Collision Course on Netflix: A Madrid Bank Heist Spirals Into Deceit, Fear and Survival This October 30

Some heists go smoothly. This one goes terribly wrong. Netflix’s new Spanish thriller drops viewers into a Madrid bank robbery at the height of a financial crisis, and what begins as a routine job quickly turns into something far deadlier.

Collision Course: Overview

What Is the Story About?

Set during the height of the financial crisis, the film opens when a group of robbers storms a bank in Madrid. That sets off a chain of unpredictable events. What seems like just another robbery turns into a tense game of deception, fear and survival, where every decision matters and every gesture hides something. According to Netflix’s synopsis, everyone involved is trying to escape from far more than just prison.

It is a promising hook. Bank robbery stories are popular because they trap people in a pressure cooker, and the financial-crisis backdrop adds a layer of desperation that makes every character’s motives feel believable.

The Cast to Watch

The film brings together a strong lineup of Spanish talent:

• Laia Costa, best known for Victoria, makes her first Netflix project with this film
• Álvaro Cervantes, a familiar face on the platform
• Karra Elejalde, who has several Netflix titles behind him
• Tamar Novas, Luis Zahera and Lluís Homar
• Jorge Cabrera, Alba Fontecha, Ismael Martínez and Imma Sancho

No character names have been revealed yet, which keeps the mystery alive. Still, first-look images already hint at the tense chemistry between the actors.

The Team Behind the Camera

Acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Daniel Sánchez Arévalo directed and co-wrote the film, marking his first step into the thriller genre. He is known for earlier works such as Dark Blue Almost Black and Seventeen, which makes this a notable change of pace for him. He teamed up with Ramón Campos, who co-wrote and executive produced.

Campos’s Bambú Producciones has a strong record with international hits, including Cable Girls, Cocaine Coast and The Asunta Case. That experience suggests polished production values. The collaboration pushed Arévalo beyond his usual creative boundaries to deliver a fast-paced story built on deception, fear and survival.

Why Put It on Your Watchlist?

First, Spanish thrillers have become a streaming favourite, and heist stories are a proven crowd-pleaser. Second, the cast is packed with seasoned performers, many familiar to Netflix viewers. Third, the filmmaker’s shift into new territory could bring fresh energy. If you enjoy the tension of a heist film where nobody can be fully trusted, this should be right up your street.
