Climax Episodes 7–8: Every Power Move That Backfired on Ha Ji Won & Ju Ji Hoon

The K-drama Climax just delivered its most explosive week yet — and nobody is walking away unscathed. Power struggles, manipulation, and scandals continue to shroud presidential hopeful Bang Tae Seop (Ju Ji Hoon) and his actress wife Chu Sang Ah (Ha Ji Won), and while they may have temporarily salvaged their reputations, the game is far from over.

Here’s a breakdown of the three moments from Episodes 7–8 that prove this couple is in way over their heads.

!. Trading Each Other as Pawns

Tae Seop’s political opponent is backed by the powerful WR Group, putting serious pressure on his campaign. To counter this, he seeks out Yang Mi’s former husband — only to receive an indecent proposal: political support in exchange for a night with Sang Ah.

Rather than walking away, Sang Ah offers Yang Mi her own husband as collateral — promising to bring Tae Seop to her side — in exchange for being reinstated as the lead in the film Four Seasons. Both succeed in their individual goals, but in doing so, willingly hand Yang Mi full control over them.

It’s a chilling reminder that in Climax, loyalty is just another currency.

2. Yang Mi Always Stays Three Steps Ahead

Tae Seop joins forces with Yang Mi’s stepson, Kwon Jong Uk, to launch a counterattack against her — digging up dirt on rival candidate Son Guk Won, including slush funds and financial fraud.

But Yang Mi doesn’t flinch. She warns Tae Seop she has something far worse on him, and — just as Sang Ah is within earshot — reveals that she had orchestrated the tax evasion scandal against them, and Tae Seop had known all along but never exposed it. Sang Ah is left shattered, realizing she has been played by both her husband and Yang Mi.

3. A Sex Tape Ends the Election

Sang Ah and Jeong Won (Nana) reunite on set, with the tension between them palpable and unspoken. When Jeong Won later confesses she never killed Jae Sang and was actually kidnapped by Yang Mi’s people, a strange bond forms between the two women.

On Election Day, just as Tae Seop believes he’s orchestrated a masterful coup by releasing Guk Won’s scandals, Yang Mi uploads a sex tape featuring Sang Ah — and the person with her is unmistakably Jeong Won. The episode closes on Tae Seop’s stunned expression and Yang Mi’s satisfied smirk. soompi
