CID Full Form: The Indian State Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID), modelled after the Criminal Investigation Departments of the British Police Force, is known by its full name, Crime Investigation Department. It is the division of the police department responsible for investigating crimes within the Indian State Police, which is led by the Additional Police Director General (ADG). It is utilised in the investigation of numerous significant special cases that the Indian government and the DGP assign it, and it has its headquarters in Pune.

The Police Commission of India was founded in 1902 under the British Government with the purpose of upholding law and order within the country. Officers in this department typically work undercover and are commonly known as detectives or CID officers.

    Educational Qualification: A minimum requirement for joining the CID is a graduation degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks. Postgraduate degrees in criminology and criminal justice from recognized Indian universities can benefit CID entry.
    Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the CID.
    Gender: Both male and female candidates can apply for the examination.
    Minimum Age: Candidates must be at least 20 years old.
    Upper Age Limit: The maximum age limit for CID entry is 27 years. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category (20-32 years) and 3 years for candidates from the OBC category (20-30 years).
    Minimum Required Height: For male candidates, the minimum height requirement is 165 cm, while for female candidates, it is 150 cm. Candidates belonging to hill regions or tribal communities have a relaxation of 5 cm in height requirements.
    Additional Skills: Candidates should possess qualities such as keen observation skills, excellent memory, sound judgment of character, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
