What Happened? The Full Recap
Episode 4 began with an international tip from Polish authorities warning that a Belarusian national connected to a hate group called The Path had entered the US. Rather than finding weapons or explosives, the team discovered a trafficking operation — vulnerable pregnant women brought to the US, pressured to surrender their babies for money, generating funds for the neo-Nazi organisation. Wikipedia
The Belarusian man, Aleks, was discovered posing as an expectant father alongside a woman named Sophia. After she delivered prematurely, Aleks vanished — taking the baby with him. Sophia told investigators she had agreed to give up the child in exchange for money, with the payment far higher than normal, suggesting an organised scheme rather than a private adoption.
What Happened to Sophia’s Baby?
The intended adoptive parent, Stephanie Harris, had already paid $100,000 with another $50,000 due on delivery. Investigators concluded Aleks was acting as a middleman in the trafficking network. Fox News
Sophia was ultimately found dead inside one of the “baby factory” houses. Nearby, her newborn lay critically ill but alive — emergency services rushed the infant to hospital where doctors managed to stabilise the child. Wikipedia It’s a gutting, realistic ending to a deeply uncomfortable case.
The Bigger Picture — Mole Plot & Colin’s Past
Beyond the main case, the episode continued the internal CIA mole storyline. Colin underwent a polygraph examination revealing that knowledge of the leak was not limited to one person — Nikki was also aware, deepening the sense that trust inside the unit was fragile. The investigation into the death of Colin’s former partner Toni continued quietly in the background. Wikipedia
