OpenAI’s ChatGPT macOS App Now Available to All Users

OpenAI launches its desktop ChatGPT chatbot app for macOS, available as of today. This app works for both the paid and free users of the platform. It was first unveiled at OpenAI’s Spring Updates event last month, and over the past few weeks ahead of its public launch today, ChatGPT Plus subscribers have been getting access to the app incrementally. An integrated Voice Mode adds expanded user interaction capabilities to the macOS version of the app

In a tweet last night from its official account on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI announced that the ChatGPT for Mac app is now live. The app has all the features of its web client but offers a more tailored experience along with certain exclusive on-device properties. For instance, users can launch the chatbot instantly by pressing Options + Space keys together.

An important thing you can do on the dedicated app: is snap up and load shots quickly to be able for inquiry. Users can do this by invoking an app on any screen via a keyboard shortcut and clicking the paper clip icon. Select Take Screenshot in case you intend to have only part of your available portion. Per OpenAI, this is available on any screen

In addition, users can process files and photos of the AI using computer vision to answer relevant questions. If the user wants to post an image of any bird and asks for suggestions about what kind of species it is. Also in place is Voice Mode, which will let users converse with AI and hear back replies via sound (pre-integrated inside ChatGPT’s macOS application).

The app also incorporates several useful features from its web counterpart, including a side panel for accessing previous conversations and a Memory feature that retains certain user information. OpenAI has indicated that access to GPT-4o will soon be added to the app.
