BTS’ RM has recently achieved a significant milestone in his solo career. His latest collaboration with American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, titled Neva Play, has made an impressive debut on Spotify’s global chart. The track’s success has not only put RM on the map in a new way but also highlights the ongoing influence of BTS in the global music scene.

RM Scores His First-Ever Spotify Global Top 10

On September 6, RM and Megan Thee Stallion released their much-anticipated collaboration, Neva Play. The track quickly gained momentum, making an impressive entry at #10 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart. Within just a single day, the song amassed 4.5 million streams, marking RM’s highest solo entry on the platform to date. This achievement is a significant milestone for RM, showcasing his ability to shine as a solo artist outside of his well-known role with BTS.

Viral Impact of RM’s ‘Paved the Way’

The track’s success is not just about numbers; it’s also creating a buzz on social media. One of the standout moments from Neva Play is RM’s line, “For Asia, man we paved the way.” This particular lyric has resonated strongly with fans and has gone viral online. The line reflects RM’s acknowledgement of BTS’s influence and contributions to the global music industry, particularly in representing Asian artists on the world stage.

The reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive. Fans have praised RM for his candidness and for acknowledging BTS’s role in breaking barriers. One Twitter user expressed, “These men have been thoughtfully humble for years. It’s about time they start claiming it.” Another supporter added, “AND HE’LL SAY IT AGAIN.”

Neva Play Tops iTunes and Oricon Charts

The success of Neva Play extends beyond Spotify. The song has also achieved remarkable positions on other major charts. According to Sports Trends, Neva Play has reached the number 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 87 regions globally. This includes key markets such as the United States, Germany, and Canada. The track’s popularity is also reflected in its performance on Japan’s Oricon daily digital singles chart, where it climbed to No. 2.

Context of Megan Thee Stallion’s Recent Work

The release of Neva Play follows Megan Thee Stallion’s latest album, “Megan,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 after its release on June 28. This album has further cemented Megan’s status as a leading figure in the rap genre. Her collaboration with RM represents a noteworthy intersection of their respective musical journeys, bringing together fans from both BTS and Megan’s fan base.

RM’s Current Status with BTS

While RM is making headlines with his solo success, his activities with BTS continue to draw attention. Currently, RM, along with fellow BTS members Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, Taehyung, and Jungkook, is serving in the South Korean military. This period of mandatory service has temporarily paused BTS’s group activities but has not diminished its global presence.

The oldest BTS member, Jin, has recently returned to the public eye following the completion of his military service. His comeback has been met with enthusiasm from fans, signalling continued interest in BTS as a group alongside individual members’ solo endeavours.
