Released on August 21, 2020, “Dynamite” marked a significant shift for BTS as their first entirely English-language track. This infectious disco-pop anthem stands out among the group’s diverse discography. What makes it even more intriguing is the fact that the members of BTS didn’t participate in its writing or production – a rarity for the talented group known for their deeply emotional music. The songwriters behind this masterpiece, David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, shared their creative journey in response to a unique opportunity presented by BTS.

BTS’s ‘Dynamite’: The Road to Creation

The story of “Dynamite” began when songwriters David Stewart and Jessica Agombar learned through their publisher, Tim Blacksmith, that BTS was seeking an English-language single. Fueled by the idea of crafting a song that would radiate energy, positivity, and hope, they set out to create a track that resonated with the vibrant spirit of the group. The result was a song that BTS leader RM described as “fun and cheery,” evoking a feeling of excitement that wasn’t overly serious but undoubtedly made listeners feel good.
