BSNL’s WiFi Calling Goes Live Nationwide: Crystal-Clear Calls Without Mobile Signal

Say goodbye to dropped calls in your basement or office. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced on New Year’s Day the nationwide rollout of Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) services across all telecom circles, bringing seamless connectivity to millions of Indians—completely free.

This marks BSNL’s entry into the WiFi calling space, joining private operators like Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea in offering this game-changing feature that lets you make calls even when your mobile network bars are nonexistent.

What Makes BSNL’s WiFi Calling Different?

VoWiFi enables customers to make and receive voice calls and messages over a WiFi network, ensuring clear connectivity in areas with weak mobile signals such as homes, offices, basements, and remote locations. The best part? It uses your existing mobile number and phone dialer, without requiring any third-party applications.

How WiFi Calling Transforms Connectivity

The real magic happens when you’re in signal dead zones. Whether you’re working from a basement café, living in a remote village, or stuck in a concrete building, VoWiFi ensures clear and reliable connectivity provided a stable WiFi connection is available, including BSNL Bharat Fiber or other broadband services.

This telecommunications technology particularly benefits rural India, where mobile network infrastructure often struggles to reach every corner. For sports enthusiasts following live match updates or coordinating team events, uninterrupted calling becomes crucial.

Setting Up WiFi Calling (It Takes 30 Seconds)

Most modern smartphones support WiFi calling, and users simply need to enable the feature in their handset settings. Here’s how:

1. Open your phone’s Settings
2. Navigate to Network & Internet or Connections
3. Find WiFi Calling and toggle it ON
4. Start making calls as usual—no new apps needed

The technology allows seamless handover between WiFi and mobile networks, meaning your call won’t drop when you walk out of WiFi range.

Why This Matters for India’s Digital Push

The nationwide launch underscores BSNL’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and improving telecom services in underserved areas. VoWiFi also helps reduce network congestion, making the overall mobile network more efficient for everyone.

With BSNL’s ongoing network modernization and upcoming 5G trials, this WiFi calling rollout signals the state-owned telecom provider’s comeback strategy in an increasingly competitive market.
