Bridgerton Season 4 Full Story: From Jail Cell to Wedding Bells
Part 1 ended painfully — Benedict offering Sophie the role of his mistress, which she rightfully rejected. For Sophie, who was born out of a similar arrangement, it was the ultimate insult. Part 2 opens with Benedict understanding his mistake and fighting for her properly.
When Sophie is arrested on her stepmother Araminta’s false charges, the Bridgerton family rallies hard. Benedict bursts into court, bails her out, and brings her home. It’s only then that the most game-changing revelation surfaces: Sophie’s late father had written her a legitimate will, leaving her a proper dowry equal to his other daughters. Araminta had stolen it all.
Armed with this truth, Violet Bridgerton devises a brilliant plan. In exchange for not exposing Araminta’s theft, Sophie will be quietly introduced into society as a distant cousin of the late Lord Penwood — “Miss Sophie Gun.” The plan gives Sophie the noble standing she was always owed.
Queen Charlotte sweeps in to uncover all the juicy gossip, ultimately approving the match, and Benedict then proposes publicly on the dance floor. It’s a full-circle moment — the very same ballroom where they first danced as strangers.
The wedding scene arrives as a surprise mid-credits moment, set at My Cottage — the country estate where their relationship first began to flourish — sealed with true love’s kiss.
What About the Other Bridgertons?
Francesca is quietly devastated — husband John dies, leaving Michaela to leave and Francesca to grieve alone, while Penelope puts down her Lady Whistledown pen for good — though a new mystery gossip writer emerges. wallofsoundau Eloise, meanwhile, grows increasingly isolated, setting her up perfectly as the likely lead of Season 5.
