0

The holiday season is coming and so NVIDIA has brought some surprise for you in terms of games. No NVIDIA is not making games, but brining DLSS support to four new games and are seeing substantial boosts in frame rates while generating beautiful, crisp game images.

Do not worry, these games are in addition to Minecraft with RTX which moved out of beta today, and Cyberpunk 2077 which launches this week. The new DLSS Games for December are:

December finds CRSED: F.O.AD. (formerly Cuisine Royale, Dec. 3), Moonlight Blade (Dec 7), Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord (coming in Dec), and Scavengers (available in ‘tech tests’ today ) all joining the roster of DLSS games, taking the tally of DLSS games to 30 titles.

Turning on DLSS will see performance boosted in each of these games:

  • DLSS increases performance by up to 40% in CRSED: F.O.A.D., which means every GeForce RTX GPU can play the game at 4K in excess of 90 FPS.
  • DLSS can more than double your frame rate in Moonlight Blade, which means every GeForce RTX GPU can play the game at 4K in excess of 60FPS.
  • DLSS increases performance by up to 50% in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which means every GeForce RTX GPU can play the game at 4K in excess of 60FPS.
  • DLSS increases performance by up to 40% in Scavengers, which means every GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU can play the game at 4K in excess of 60FPS.

Indeed, DLSS gives significant improvements while playing games, increasing frame rates and the quality of the gameplay. Enjoy these new games this month on NVIDIA RTX graphics cards!

Xiaomi and Redmi to launch two flagship smartphones, powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset

Renowned semiconductor chip maker company Qualcomm has unveiled its latest Snapdragon 888 next-gen flagship chipset during the 2020 edition of the Snapdragon Summit of this year. However, Lei Jun (CEO of Xiaomi) has revealed that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 is going to the first smartphone in the globe to launch with the SD 888 chipset. Now, if we put some light on the relationship between Xiaomi and Redmi, we find that both of them have always very keen to launch smartphones with the latest chipsets. The same thing we have seen at the time of the SD 865 chipset and now, at the time of SD 888, we can expect that alongside Xiaomi, Redmi will also launch a flagship smartphone powered by the SD 888 chipset. So, in 2021, we can expect two flagship smartphones from Xiaomi and Redmi powered by the latest SD 888 chipset.

As of now, we’ve only got the news about the upcoming flagship series. But we don’t know how many smartphones will be there in each series whether it is from Xiaomi or Redmi. Let’s consider the Mi 11 series. If Mi 11 is powered by the SD 888 chipset and this series will have two models, then from Xiaomi, we will be going to get two smartphones powered by the latest chipset. The same thing went for the Redmi K series that came with K20, K20 Pro in 2019.

In terms of the Mi 11 series, the main highlight of this series could be the 108MP primary camera sensor. In terms of the Redmi flagships, the company has not revealed much about this. But as per the hype, we can expect an AMOLED display with a faster refresh rate of 90Hz or 120Hz and faster memory(LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 2.1 storage). On the other hand, the Mi 11 is more likely to have a 2K(QHD+) screen.

Google-Apple gets green light to deploy their COVID Exposure App in their home-town

0

Due to the ongoing pandemic, our dependency on tech devices has increased tremendously. With all this, it is not a secret that we depend on our devices even when monitoring our health. A few weeks back, we heard that Google and Apple collaborated to produce the COVID contact tracing app.

According to sources, after testing the feature on University campuses, the tech giants are finally ready to launch the service in their home-town of California. The app will reportedly go live on December 10th. Initially, the app was launched in Virginia in August, so we can say that it took Google and Apple quite some time to release the tech in their neighborhood.

The developers had added the contact tracing API to iOS and Android back in May. And the app is built around to utilize the API. The service’s minimum requirements are that it requires an iPhone with iOS 14.2 or a phone running Android 6.0 or above with Bluetooth Low Energy. The app’s working is simple; the user’s phone will automatically exchange a private key with another phone if they’re within Bluetooth range.

A gentle reminder the key doesn’t contain the location or personal information of the user. If a person is positive, they can send a notification to every other person using the app. Then the app notifies every user of the app around the sender. It merely means that you have been exposed to the tested positive person, and you should get tested and quarantined.

As mentioned above, California’s state will get the CA Notify app from December 10th, and the citizens can download it from Google Play Store. For iOS users, however, there is a guide provided by the California state administration. Users have to go to the Settings app then to Exposure Notifications. They then have to tap “Turn on Exposure Notifications,” they will then select California as the region and turn on the tracing.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su wins Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year 2020

0

AMD has changed or says transformed the stagnant PC industry with Ryzen processors, back from 2017. Since then their journey never ended and now in 2020, they have become the gaming champion with the Ryzen 5000 series of processors.

Not only for CPUs but also their discrete graphics card, they are now getting more praise than before and being adopted for business uses. AMD’s server business has skyrocketed from last year with their EPYC processors and Radeon Instinct GPUs.

AMD was the first to bring the concept of APUs and create great gaming SoCs that have today laid the foundation for the next-gen consoles. Also, their revolutionary Ryzen APUs have done quite well in the mobile lineup as well. Together, with so much to offer, AMD has indeed surprised every analyst this year, making record revenues each quarter.

Obviously, this wouldn’t be possible if the company would not be led by Dr. Lisa Su, who took the CEO position when it was sunk with debt in 2014. In recent years AMD has transformed the silicon industry and changed its fortune with a strong roadmap, and its gaining trust from various OEMs for its strong commitment.

For the first nine months of 2020, AMD’s revenue stands at $6,519 million. The results show that the company has nearly met last year’s figure with a full quarter to spare. But it also marked 31% year-over-year growth for the quarter.

AMD has even claimed that it predicts a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20% for the next five years. Indeed, Dr. Lisa Su deserves praise for such leadership that has changed the company’s luck forever! Rightfully, she has been awarded Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year 2020, and kudos to her from team TechnoSports.

LG to take a new approach to outsource lower-end smartphones to cut costs

0

LG, the South Korean multinational electronics company, has decided to bring a major change in its smartphone division. The reports flowing in suggests that they are ready to outsource lower-to-mid end smartphones. They are doing this reorganization to increase its efficiency and drive up the sales number which is really struggling for some years now. In fact, LG has reported operating losses reported for 22 consecutive quarters. That means, for the past five years, the company has failed to register an operating profit.

This downward trend has forced the management to wear their thinking caps and look for a new direction which has led them to the choice of Original Design Manufacturer (ODM). LG has a strong mobile division in the early 2010s. They were ranked No. 3 in the global smartphone market by Strategy Analytics in 2013. But it went downhill since 2015. Why? All due to the Chinese manufacturers who flood the market with their cheaper and effective handsets.

LG will be raising the smartphone production in India by 15 times

Chinese companies like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo took over the market by engaging in the price war. They underwent several marketing strategies to change people’s perception of Chinese mobiles. Earlier, people use to consider Chinese brands as someone who offers unreliable products. Now in 2020, it is they who are ruling the markets worldwide.

LG is planning to outsource the design and manufacture and sell the handsets under its brand name. Due to this, they have jettisoned some of its research and production members. They are also trying to fit other members according to the new business models. LG will use this new direction in their low-end and mid-end smartphones but will still rely on in-house research & development and production in their high-end smartphones.

Outsourcing will help them to reduce the cost and bring more efficiency. But, will that be enough? Can they ace the market with this new direction?

Activision lodging an appeal with lawsuits against Netflix for plundering executives

0

Activision, the COD publisher, is taking Netflix to court, claiming illegal and unethical behavior of the video streaming company for plundering executives. The former Activision CFO, Spencer Neumann, joined Netflix as the top finance executive after leaving the gaming company in 2018.

Activision said in the lawsuit, “Netflix unapologetically recruits talent without regard to its ethical and legal obligations. To shape its workforce to its desires, Netflix not only ruthlessly fires its own employees that it deems ‘adequate,’ but is engaged in a years-long campaign of unlawfully poaching executives from Netflix’s competitors regardless of their contractual obligations.”

Seeing Netflix’s actions, Activision has claimed that Netflix is overlooking California law, also the Labor Code. According to Activision, the video streaming company “knowingly induced Neumann to breach his employment contract with Activision.”

Activision said, “Making matters worse, Netflix engaged in its tortious conduct when Activision–with Neumann’s assistance–was negotiating with Netflix over a commercial partnership to distribute Activision’s linear media content. Netflix then proceeded to induce Neumann to breach his fiduciary obligations to Activision, thereby obtaining yet another an unfair and unethical advantage over Activision, one of Netflix’s competitors.”

The gaming company stated that the behavior with their executive was not an isolated occasion with adding, “Netflix has a demonstrated pattern of caring only about attracting and employing whoever Netflix wants, regardless of whether it violates the law along the way.”

Activision is finding a permanent solution for this Netflix issue with a warning, and the gaming company now wants to be paid compensatory damages, consequential damages, and punitive damages.

Finally it’s Ronaldo vs Messi time again!

0

When the Champions League groups draw was made, everyone was excited to see Barcelona and Juventus in the same group as this would mean the whole world can once again please their eyes by seeing Messi and Ronaldo on the same pitch again after 2 years.

Seeing Ronaldo and Messi on the same pitch had became a habit in the last decade as Ronaldo played for Real Madrid. But after he moved to Juventus in 2018, the duo hasn’t meet since then. Ronaldo has missed the first group fixture as well but he is now fit to take the field against Messi’s Barcelona at Camp Nou tonight.

Literally, the whole world will stop tonight at 1:30 am IST (9th December) to watch the reunion between two of the greatest players of football.

The debate about who’s better between Messi and Ronaldo will go on but the reality is it may be the last time we see the two GOATs on the same pitch tonight.

Here’s how twitter reacted to the Ronaldo and Messi reunion:

Intel might be secretly working on Tiger Lake desktop CPU

0

Intel has been pretty busy this year with the launch of its 11th generation Tiger Lake CPUs. With the introduction of its Evo platform, the company has raised the standards of its Tiger Lake notebooks that also offer support for PCIe 4th generation. But recently, Intel and PC manufacturer Dell has been pretty busy in implementing S0ix power-saving states into the Linux kernel.

According to sources, the S0ix states shut off parts of the Intel SoC, which are not in use. Reports indicate that Dell has recently added support for Tiger Lake desktop systems that have been tested on pre-released hardware.

“These Tiger Lake systems are not yet released but have been validated on pre-release hardware. This is being submitted separately from released hardware in case of regression between pre-release and release hardware, so this commit
can be reverted alone.”

But one thing worth observing is that for Dell to be working on S0ix for Tiger Lake desktop CPUs is pretty surprising. It is because to this day, we have never heard about there existing a desktop variant of intel’s Tiger Lake line-up. Until now, Intel only released its 11th Gen Core Tiger Lake-U series for low-power laptops. The company also confirmed that it would release the 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S desktop series.

But nowhere have we heard about there being an Intel Tiger Lake desktop series. We also know Intel is expected to launch its 11th Gen Tiger Lake-H series featuring higher TDP and more cores than Tiger Lake-U. It will be featured in high-end gaming laptops. But the unconfirmed hardware from Intel really has everyone confused.

With AMD revealing its cards soon, and is performing extremely in the gaming sector. Intel needs to up its game if it wants to retain its crown. A high-performing Tiger Lake CPU for gaming desktops might be the thing intel is looking for. If the rumors are true and intel is actually working on Tiger Lake desktop CPUs, then it is huge news for the semiconductor market.
