India’s Export Potential in Motherboards between 2021-26 Valued at ₹8 Lakh Crore: Report

0

A joint report released by mobile devices industry body ICEA and EY claimed that India could export motherboards, which are technically called Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), worth up to ₹8 lakh crore between 2021-2026.

However, the report included that in the absence of government incentives and subsidies, the export potential will significantly decrease to around ₹29,500 crores during the five-year period. For the potential to be met, the government must provide support of 4-6 percent in exports of PCBAs.

Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), said that the cumulative export potential of ₹8 lakh crore by 2026 has to be recognized by the Indian government. Mohindroo said that currently, the size of the PCBA industry in India is approximately ₹2 lakh crore, and during the 2021-26 period, it is expected to reach ₹6.4 lakh crore.

The National Policy on Electronics (NPE) 2019 forecasts electronic manufacturing turnover of USD 400 billion (₹26 lakh crore at the foreign exchange rate when this policy was approved) by 2025. Out of the USD 400 billion, the mobile phone segment is expected to contribute USD 190 billion ( ₹13 lakh crore).

According to ICEA, PCBA can contribute ₹8 lakh crore to the NPE target, and an additional ₹7 lakh crore can be added by IT hardware, which includes laptop and tablet manufacturing.

“We have requested for separate production linked incentives for PCBA. Mobile devices will majorly drive the consumption of PCBA in India,” Mohindroo said in the report.

“Standalone PCBA exports from India face cost disabilities against well-established manufacturing hubs, with large manufacturing capacities, such as China and Vietnam. Besides, China offers various incentives for R&D activities, tax benefits on exported goods, policies to promote an export culture, significant investments across the value chain, and technology transfer from global players,” he added.

In 2019-20, India’s exports of standalone PCBAs for mobile phones were USD 0.15 billion ( ₹1,100 crores). By 2020-21 these are expected to be USD 0.30 billion ( ₹2,200 crores).

“For other electronic products, standalone PCBA exports are estimated to begin only from 2022-23 as manufacturing capacities increase in the country,” the report said.

Why you and your wallet should be afraid of next-gen consoles?

0

Due to Covid-19, the supply chain of the world has been disrupted. Not to mention soon, the world will be starting the global distribution of Covid vaccines. All the export-import resources will be allocated to the successful distribution of the vaccination. But, the past few weeks have been extraordinary in terms of the PC market and gaming industry. The launch of next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft and the launch of the latest graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD have open possibilities for the PC community.

So, if you are thinking about purchasing the next-gen consoles from your nearest retail store, then, by all means, think again. Though the next-gen consoles are released in the market, the manufacturers face a severe shortage of retail stores. Due to a lack of supply of the consoles, their prices have skyrocketed. Though the companies are not at fault, they should have realized the situation earlier and could have handled it a little better.

According to sources, the low supply has caused inflation in the prices of the next-gen consoles. The retailers are selling the products at extremely high prices, and it is not only about the consoles, but even the games are being sold at high prices for the consoles. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X|S is indeed being sold.

Not only the consoles but even Nvidia’s RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, and even 3060 Ti graphics cards are also being sold for high prices. The demand for the cards is hot in the market, and as per the reports, the green team cannot supply the necessary required amount of cards. The problem is not related to Nvidia alone. Sources have found that AMD’s RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT GPUs are being sold for extremely high market prices.

Though we say that the demand for graphics processors and next-gen consoles are high in the market, it doesn’t necessarily mean that all the users are willing to pay the extreme prices for the products. Gamers face a dilemma as to what to do with the fact that the retailers are selling these products at almost twice their original price.

Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti$399$675
AMD RX 6800 XT$649$1,232
AMD RX 6800$579$841

The price inflation problem is mainly due to the shortage of supply. And even Microsoft has clearly mentioned that it won’t meet the demand any time soon. Thus, users have to battle out the high prices of their favorite products for quite some time.

Intel Jasper Lake-based Celeron N5105 quad-core CPU spotted

0

AMD has recently dominated Intel on the laptop CPU market’s budget side, and their costly Ice Lake processors have not been that compelling. In contrast, the Ryzen 3000U series at ultra-low prices has attracted many people, including big clients and OEMs.

Even Chromebooks these days run on Ryzen processors; Intel needs to do something to recover its image as the dominator in this budget segment. Maybe this is the reason why they introduced the world with their new Jasper Lake-based Pentium and Celeron CPUs built on 10nm Tremont architecture.

This is the first time we have an actual leak of these new processors and has been spotted by none other than @TUM_APISAK. The desktop range for the Jasper Lake processors uses a modest 10W TDP, while the mobile range will be using 6W TDP, and each of the ranges will have 3 processors with almost similar naming schemes.

So, the tipster has found the Celeron N5105 quad-core CPU on Userbenchmark, and this is indeed a low power consuming desktop CPU. The Celeron N5105 is a 4 core, 4 thread processor clocked at 2.0GHz base and up to 2.8GHz (max quad-core burst). It also comes equipped with Intel UHD Graphics, 4M L2 cache.

Intel Jasper Lake-based Celeron N5105 quad-core CPU spotted

Intel had been lazy to offer 4 cores at budget, but with fanless Jasper Lake-based CPUs, we could actually see a change. If you see the CPU’s performance, it is not meant for heavy workloads or such, but it seems like for casual work, browsing, and daily usage, this CPU indeed makes sense.

These new Intel Jasper Lake processors are expected to launch early next year and with this leak, it seems confirmed.

Malware found on more than 20 million units of Gionee, a Chinese court has published a verdict on it

0

Gionee, a renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer planted malware on more than 20 million of its devices, and the Chinese court has published a verdict as well on this case. A recent report has come out that Gionee has planted a Trojan Horse on more than 20 million units of it. By which, the company is earning money from unsought ads and other several adverse activities without its user’s knowledge.

Reports tell us that the Shenzhen Zhipu Technology Co. Ltd. has implanted this using a software called “Story Lock Screen” app. Shenzhen Zhipu Technology Co. Ltd. is a subsidiary of Gionee. It is not a recent case. The first malware has been found in December 2018. So, from 2018 to today’s age, Gionee has already earned something around $4.2 million, corrupting almost 21.75 million smartphones. The Shenzhen Zhipu Company combined with the Beijing Baice Company has executed the “pull activities” a total of 2.88 billion times. From this pulling business, the companies have earned almost around RMB 27.85 million.

For all those consequences, Xu Li, Zhu Ying, Jia Zhengqiang, and Pan Qi were found as culprits for illegally controlling Gionee smartphones without the user’s knowledge and are sentenced from around 3 to 3.5 years imprisonment along with a CNY 200,000 (~$30,000) fine each. Interestingly, Gionee is not only the smartphone brand that used malicious software on its devices. Some other cheap Chinese brands are also there in this list, like for say Tecno. The government is taking drastic actions against it.

Why go for a Ryzen 7 5800X when you can get a Ryzen 9 3900XT at just ₹ 39,990?

0

Looking for a Ryzen CPU at the best prices is one of the most difficult these days, especially if it’s the new Ryzen 5000 series processor. Well, if you are really confused, like me, to go with which high-end Ryzen CPU, then I have a great solution for you.

Undoubtedly, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X is the one you might be looking for, but the prices might actually dishearten you a lot. You get it at ₹ 48,499 on Amazon at online stores, which might be cheaper on MD Computers; however, the point is everywhere; it’s almost 20-30% costlier.

So, getting an 8-core CPU just for the huge gaming performance makes sense for some specific people, but people who love productivity can get Ryzen 3000 series processors at unbelievable rates. You might say who buys last-gen, I say this is the best time to get the Ryzen 3000XT processors.

Why go for a Ryzen 7 5800X when you can get a Ryzen 9 3900XT at just ₹ 39,990?

Only at Amazon, the not-so-old 12-core Ryzen 9 3900XT is available for just ₹ 39,990, don’t freak out; yes, it’s lower than any other offline or online store out there in India, including tax. If I go by Amazon pricing, the Ryzen 9 saves almost Rs.10k, which is huge if you make a PC.

Obviously, the Ryzen 7 5800X has significant performance gains for gaming performance, but if you are a content creator or into various high-end workloads, then Ryzen 9 3900XT makes a lot of sense. You get:

  • 12 Cores & 24 Threads, 70MB Cache
  • Base Clock: 3.8GHz, Max Boost Clock: up to 4.7GHz
  • Memory Support: DDR4 3200MHz, Memory Channels: 2, TDP: 105W, PCI Express Generation: PCIe Gen 4
  • Compatible with Motherboards based on 400 & 500 Series Chipset, Socket AM4

The deal at such prices is just amazing and makes it a good option if you are indeed planning to make a PC build this season. Buy from here:

Also, the CPU requires a cooler, well, I would recommend an AIO cooler with this beast, but if you want a cheaper option then this bundled Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 V2 120mm Air Cooler could be a handy option as you need to pay just ₹ 448 extra:

It will indeed take some time for Ryzen 5000 series processors to get back to normal pricing, till then for shoppers and enthusiasts like me Ryzen 3000 series at lucrative prices still holds a good option.
