Facebook launches new Mix-and-Match Music Making app Collab

Facebook’s internal R&D group, New Product Experimentation (NPE) team, has publicly launched Collab, an experimental music-making app after having just launched a new group audio calling app, CatchUp, on Tuesday. The focus in the Collab app is specifically on the concept of watching, mixing, and matching original videos together, beginning with music.

In Collab, users are allowed to combine up to three independent videos and create a short-form music video. The videos are posted on a public ‘collab’ feed, so you could also record one part, then combine it with one or two other parts that you find on the Collab feed that are recorded by other people. The ‘collab’ videos can only be up to 15 seconds in length, as this is more of a fun and experimentation app instead of a professional music-making platform.

Collab includes in-app tools to sync the parts together so you won’t have to worry about lining all the videos up. Its App Store page’s info reads, “We make sure that as you swipe, the videos play at exactly the right moment to be in sync.”

While there are some elements of TikTok’s duets in this idea of the Collab app, the difference is that while TikTok allows creators to control who can duet with them, all videos posted to Collab can be mixed and matched with others without the level of control on TikTok. Additionally, what sets Collab apart from other apps, including TikTok, Dubsmash, and more is that it is only designed for making original music videos for the time being. In contrast, the other apps have users creating content to the music from popular songs available via an in-app catalog.

Facebook says it has hurried the launch of the app in light of so many people being sheltered in place around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Digital spaces can connect us when we can’t be together in person, and Collab is a new way to create together,” a Facebook company spokesperson said about the launch according to TechCrunch.

You can export the finished products of your combination to your Instagram story (as well as other platforms, including TikTok) via iOS share sheet, even though the app isn’t directly integrated with Facebook (yet, at least).

Collab is available as an invite-only beta on the Apple Store in the U.S. and Canada.

Chinese brand Oppo has launched a 50W mini VOOC charger in July 2020. But the company has not released it for the sell. So according to a recent report, the company is going to release this charger for sale. The company has started selling this portable charger in China through Huantai Mall (a collaboration of OPPO, Realme, and OnePlus).

Specification and Design of Oppo 50W Mini Super VOOC Biscuit charger:

The Oppo 50W mini Super VOOC Charger has a shape like a biscuit, so it is also known as a Biscuit charger. This charger has a track-style ultra-thin shape, a large area application of multi-curve design, and also has a folding pin design. This new charger has a new charging technology-Pulse Charging. According to the company, this new charging technology adopts a very short charging gap. The polarization reaction of the battery will be eliminated. The loss and the temperature change o this battery is very minor.

Regarding the internal technology, this charger has a gallium nitride high-frequency switch, that will reduce the single energy storage requirement of the transformer. The charger also features Oppo’s self develop ACF (Active Clamp Flyback)which will control architecture realizes zero voltage as well as zero current switchings, and the switching loss is infinitely close to zero.

In terms of size, the thickness of this Oppo charger is 1.05cm. As Oppo has launched this charger, then it obviously supports Oppo’s own Super VOOC fast charging. Apart from this charger will support other fast charging technology like 27W PD (Power Delivery), 50W PPS (Programmable Power Supply), and others.

Regarding the price, this charger will be priced at 399 Yuan. This is very small in size so it is very much comfortable to carry with you.

HMD Global has recently launched another entry-level budget smartphone, named Nokia C1 Plus. After Nokia C1, it is the cheapest Nokia smartphone right now. The Nokia C1 Plus is nothing but a 4G smartphone with upgraded hardware and software. Let’s go and check out its specifications.

The Nokia C1 Plus runs on the Android 10 Go OS and the best thing is it will give you a clean UI experience with lesser bloatware and more storage space. The company claims that it can hold up to 3000 songs or 13 hours of HD video. Regarding the display, this phone features a 5.45-inch HD+ in-cell display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It does not have a glass back. In place of it, it has a quite rigid polycarbonate rear panel that will protect the device from accidental drops over 50 times.

Coming to the camera section, the Nokia C1 Plus offers a 5MP primary sensor along with an LED flash on the rear side and for selfies, it also offers a 5MP selfie shooter with a dedicated front flash at the front. Both the sensors can click HDR images and for extras, the front camera supports facial recognition. This phone is available in two different color variants: Red and Blue.

This phone is powered by a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor (unknown) that is paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The storage is further expandable up to 128GB via an external microSD card. In terms of battery, this phone is fueled up by a 2,500mAH battery supported by a 5V/1A-rated charger. Unfortunately, this device lacks a dedicated Google Assistant button.

Coming to the pricing and availability, HMD Global hinted via a press release that this phone will be priced at €69 and will be available for retail later this month.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro+ is said to feature some top-of-the-line specifications being the top variant of this series. Regarding the display, this phone is likely to feature a display with 2K+ screen resolution along with support for a refresh rate of 120Hz.

In terms of the processor, Xiaomi has already stated its confirmation that Mi 11 series will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The Mi 11 series is going to be the first series of smartphones to be powered by the SD 888 chipset. Arsenal have had a shocking spell of form in recent weeks, which has extended their winless home run to four matches. Their four defeats in their own backyard is something that has not happened for over 60 years. The Gunners most recently stumbled against a relegation-threatened Burnley.

What was even more insulting was the fact that the North London outfit lost the game following an own goal from their captain, Aubameyang. They now find themselves 15th in the Premier League.

Despite the lack of wins, as well as goals, technical director Edu is looking towards the silver lining.

“I can see a big, big, big and beautiful future. It’s very strange to say that in this moment, but I have to be fair – that’s the way I see the photo. And I always believed, and knew, it’d be a big challenge.

“We have to be patient. I know asking for patience for Arsenal is very strange because everyone has said that for long, long periods.

“But I’m here today to give to you guys the word that everything is fine internally but the results aren’t coming, but I think we’re going to change it very soon.

“I think the club needs stability right now, we have faced so many changes. It is not about Edu, Mikel, it is about stability. Now is the time to try and be a stable club in the old sense – externally and internally, we need that.

“The way I see things is very simple,” he continued. “It’s normal and easy to be driven by the results. But for me, the main point is when I see something in which I can see the future, see where we go, the way we’re building things, I’m sure we’re going to be fine in the future.

“Since I arrived here I knew it would be a challenge. If you see how many changes we had in these years … I really understand when you have a massive man here like Arsene Wenger and then we change to a new coach who started quite well, and then we changed Unai Emery.

“Then Mikel came, so Mikel started. I knew it would be challenge, it’s not easy. But again the way we’re driving, the way we’re going, is making me believe a lot in the future.”

“I see the players, everyone believing in what we are doing, and that’s the message. Because I started to hear from the outside, by the press, ‘players have a problem, some of the players not believing in Mikel, Mikel and David not talking…’ It’s not right.

“Nothing happened like people are saying and I don’t want that kind of thing to build externally to something which is not true internally. I want people to understand that what we are doing here, we are in the process to have a beautiful future.

“If you see how many young players get a chance. Joe Willock got a place, Emile Smith Rowe is starting to be on the bench, Ainsley Maitland-Niles start to be in the international team and Bukayo has been unbelievable.

US investigation reveals that its agencies were attacked by the Russian government-backed hackers

According to sources, a widespread campaign of cyber-attacks hit U.S. government agencies by hackers suspected of exploiting a flaw in updating a U.S. software company. The U.S. government was focused over the last several months on detecting and countering possible Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election.

The administration reported that the effort was successful. The investigators suspected that Russian hackers were quietly working their way into the computer networks of American government agencies and sensitive corporate victims undetected.

“The United States government is aware of these reports, and we are taking all necessary steps to identify and remedy any possible issues related to this situation,” stated  John Ullyot, a spokesman of the National Security Council.

According to sources, the attackers were snooping on emails at the U.S. Treasury Department and the Commerce Department’s arm. The primary suspect behind the breach is an infamous hacking group backed by the Russian government. Austin, Texas-based SolarWinds Corp. stated to confirm that the software update system for one of its products had been used to send malware to customers.

“We are aware of a potential vulnerability which, if present, is currently believed to be related to updates which were released between March and June 2020 to our Orion monitoring products. We believe that this vulnerability is the result of a highly-sophisticated, targeted, and manual supply chain attack by a nation-state.”

The investigators followed the attackers’ digital tracks, and it was revealed that FireEye might have been the first victim to detect the attack. U.S. government investigators are now unravelling which agencies may have also been breached and the extent to which the hackers accessed sensitive information. The process could very well take days or weeks.

The last time the U.S. government was caught with a lack of preparation was about five years ago when Chinese hackers stole information related to anyone who had applied for or received a national security clearance from the Office of Personnel Management computers.
