Manchester City deny offering Messi a £430 million contract

0

With the final months of the 20/21 season approaching, Lionel Messi is set to become the most valuable free agent at the end of the campaign. That, of course, is considering that Messi is not convinced by the new project at Barcelona when the new President is elected and they do not reach an agreement regarding a contract extension.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the two clubs that have been the most heavily linked in securing the Argentinian’s services if he does indeed go on to leave Barcelona. The main reason that these links are believable is because only these two clubs have the financial backing to go ahead and sign Messi on the humongous wage that he is on.

Messi's father is already in talks with Manchester City

However, despite Pep Guardiola’s relationship with Leo Messi and City’s financial strength, the Manchester Blues have dismissed claims that they offered the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner a £430 million contract over five years.

In reality, the club is yet to enter negotiations with Messi regarding a contract at the club. Moreover, Barcelona themselves have not yet made up their mind regarding the player’s future at Camp Nou either.

FC Barcelona want Aguero in a free transfer

Former Chelsea man Joe Cole has criticised the Argentinian regarding his attitude on the pitch in Barcelona’s recent 4-1 defeat to PSG in the Champions League:

‘Messi looked disinterested. It’s really hard for any ex-player to criticise him because he’s a genius and the greatest player I’ve seen play football but tonight he didn’t look like he was emotionally engaged in the game.

‘You’d have to do your due diligence before you sign Messi. The 34-year-old Messi, if he plays like that it will be a gamble. To take him into a club where Pep relies on energy, enthusiasm, togetherness.

‘It’s a mess at Barca, I don’t know how they’re going to sort it out. I can’t see Messi staying there.

Messi is not happy with the current situation at Barcelona, and that is concerning from the point of view of Barcelona fans, who have come to associate the club so strongly with the legendary player.

Wilfred Zaha challenges the practice of taking the knee in England

0

Crystal Palace star Wilfred Zaha has challenged the practice of taking the knee before kicking off matches in England, claiming that the gesture has lost its meaning and has further gone on to say that taking the knee has further made black footballers a target for abuse on social media.

Here is what the player had to say regarding the issue that has long plagued not only football but all aspects of society:

‘I’ve said before that I feel like taking the knee is degrading and stuff because growing up my parents just let me know that I should be proud to be black no matter what and I feel like we should just stand tall.

‘Trying to get the meaning behind it, it’s becoming something that we just do now and that’s not enough for me.

‘I’m not going to take the knee, I’m not going to wear Black Lives Matter on the back of my shirt because it feels like it’s a target. We’re trying to say that we’re equal but we’re isolating ourselves with these things that aren’t even working anyway, so that’s my stand on it.

‘I feel like we should stand tall. Now I don’t really tend to speak on racism and stuff like that because I’m not here just to tick boxes. Unless action is going to happen, don’t speak to me about it.’

It is difficult to disagree with Zaha regarding his stance on the issue, since simply taking a knee before kick-off seems like something that the people involved take part in only as a formality now. The purpose of raising an awareness for racist abuse and preventing it is being lost, with no difference noticeable despite all that has been said and done to combat it.

ATK Mohun Bagan made the double over their rival SC East Bengal

ATK Mohun Bagan won the prestigious ‘Kolkata Derby’. They made the double over their rival SC East Bengal in the 100th year of the legendary Kolkata derby. The Mariners have five wins in a row now and lead Mumbai City FC by five points at the top of the Hero Indian Super League table.

ATK Mohun Bagan beat SC East Bengal convincingly by 3-1 at the Fatorda Stadium on Friday. Both the teams were come up with an unchanged XI. Roy Krishna opened the deadlock on the 15th minute of the game. But SC East Bengal pulled one back through an own goal from Tiri before half-time. But the Mariners sealed the victory after two excellent goals from David Williams and Javier Hernandez.

SINGH37 0342 ATK Mohun Bagan made the double over their rival SC East Bengal

ATK Mohun Bagan made their intentions clear from the start, putting the SCEB defense under pressure. SCEB failed to find the solution in the whole match. Defensive errors cost East Bengal many times this season and today was not any different.

SC East Bengal assistant coach Tony Grant was unhappy with the second goal conceded by his team. After the match, he said, “I thought it was a good derby game. It was an honest game. Strong game. Obviously, the sloppy goal that we gave away, the second goal was the turning point. It is a derby game, it’s a (goal) each and we gifted them the second goal.”

“In the derby game, the opposition did not do too much to win the game. We helped them. Both teams canceled each other out. It wasn’t great football played by both the teams. They have a ball over the top that’s their gameplan. It was a big game. The second goal was the turning point. Of course. At 1-1, we had bright runs. We gifted them the goal. At 1-1 It was very hard to pick who was going to win the game.”- he added.

The season has already ended for the Kolkata giant, SC East Bengal. It was not a satisfying debut season for them. The Red and Gold will surely need to think about this before the start of the next season and want to come back stronger in the 2021-22 season.

Dortmund to receive bids for Erling Haaland this summer

Erling Haaland has managed to establish himself as one of, if not the single best young talent in the whole wide world. The Norwegian joined Borussia Dortmund only a year ago and has managed to become their most consistent and effective player on the pitch in just over 12 months.

Clubs all across Europe are hence, keeping an eye on the striker to possibly secure his services in the future. The situation could escalate in the summer of 2021 as well, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter. Dortmund will be receiving important bids in the summer for Erling Haaland despite a release clause in his contract which comes into effect from 2022.

In the modern world where money talks in football above most other factors, Dortmund could be forced to accept a big-money bid if they fail to qualify for the Champions League through the Bundesliga.

And chances of that happening can actually be questioned due to their shaky performances in recent times that have raised cause for concern. Moreover, the reunion with Marco Rose next season could also convince the Golden Boy to stay.

The authorities at the Westfalenstadion have consistently denied that there is a release clause in Haaland’s contract in 2021 and that the one that does exist only comes into place next year. It is also well worth noting that the player is actually happy at the club and wants to stay for the time being.

11th Gen Intel Core i9 series packaging leaked before launch

0

Intel is all set to launch its new Rocket Lake-S CPUs in the coming months and the repeated leaks of these processors have confirmed their existence and specifications.

Already we have spotted the packaging of the refreshed new 10th Gen Core i3 that will be released alongside 11th Gen SKUs. Now, we have the leaked packaging of the whole Core i9 series by Videocardz:

Intel Core i9-11900K

Intel Core i9-11900KF

Intel Core i9-11900

Intel Core i9-11900F

Obviously, the packaging looks much more modern, and Intel’s new logo gets highlighted, except the Core i9-11900K. All the other Core i9 series processors have similar packaging to that Intel teased when they reformed their logo.

The upcoming 8-core Intel Core i9-11900K flagship CPU comes with fancy packaging and as there’s no CPU cooler, Intel could make it a bit trimmer, yet looks great with a new color scheme. Videocardz also confirmed that each of the boxes will have a sticker featuring the exact CPU model name reflected on the front.

Call of Duty 2021 is rumoured to be set in World War II Era

0

It’s not very clear that one new premium Call of Duty is releasing in 2021; like always, Activision hasn’t revealed any details about the game yet. Many reliable insiders have said previously that Sledgehammer Games will totally develop call of Duty 2021, and now a few rumours about the game’s setting have come on the scene.

Victor Z, a well-known Call of Duty insider, leaked several correct information about call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now it seems he is teasing about the upcoming CoD title, which could head back to World War II. He posted on Twitter, featuring a piece of art from Call of Duty: WWII and a sledgehammer…

One other Twitter user asked whether a futuristic “World War III” is coming as the new title, the leaker then clearly pointed towards WWII.

For now, take all these as a pinch of salt, and Sledgehammer heading towards WWII would make sense. If Sledgehammer again reaches Big One, then all the three CoD developers of Activision will have a separate take on the franchise to focus on – Treyarch can do Black Ops, Infinity Ward can continue with Modern Warfare, and Sledgehammer can give their focus on historical stuff.

In recent years, Sledgehammer has been through something of an upheaval, begins with the departure of co-founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield in 2018. It is said that Activision has been building Sledgehammer back up, with the target of making it a multi-project studio. Andy Wilson, the new Sledgehammer boss, said back in 2020…

“Sledgehammer Games is entering a period of growth across both of our main studio locations: Foster City, California, and Melbourne, Australia. We’re now a multi-project studio, and we’re looking for a substantial number of new team members to join us. We’re looking across every discipline and various levels of seniority. It’s a pretty exciting time for our studio.”

Let’s see, if Activision brings another WWII-set Call of Duty or not.
