After years of silence, Insomniac Games finally unleashed the first official gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine during PlayStation State of Play, confirming the anticipated action game will slice onto PS5 in Fall 2026.

First Look at Visceral Combat

The gameplay footage confirms this isn’t your typical superhero game. The footage confirms that the game will be far bloodier than Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles, in fitting with the character’s nature, showcasing Logan’s adamantium claws carving through enemies with unprecedented brutality.

Key Gameplay Elements Revealed

Feature	Details	Impact
Combat System	Visceral melee with dismemberment	M-rated superhero experience
Healing Factor	Skin growing over his adamantium skull	Authentic character mechanics
Environment	Several iconic Marvel landmarks	Rich comic book world
Platform	Built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 consoles	Next-gen exclusive

Long-Awaited Return After Hack

The trailer reintroduces the long-silent action game following an enormous leak that saw pre-release materials spill onto the internet in 2023. This official reveal marks Insomniac’s recovery from the devastating cyberattack that exposed early development footage.

The Wolverine game was announced back in September 2021 alongside Spider-Man 2, making this the first substantial update in over three years.

What Makes This Special

Unlike Insomniac’s family-friendly Spider-Man series, Wolverine embraces the character’s savage nature. Wolverine is shown carving through flesh like it’s gushing red butter, sending limbs flying in all directions, delivering the authentic Logan experience fans demanded.

The game showcases:

Healing Factor Mechanics: Realistic regeneration during combat
Iconic Marvel Locations: Familiar settings from comic lore
Next-Gen Visuals: Built specifically for PS5 hardware
Mature Content: Properly representing Wolverine’s violent nature

Timeline and Future Updates

We can expect “more information” in Spring 2026, giving fans additional gameplay details before the Fall 2026 launch window.

This positions Marvel’s Wolverine as a potential Game of the Year contender for 2026, especially if Insomniac delivers the same quality that made Spider-Man titles critically acclaimed.

The PlayStation 5 exclusive represents Insomniac’s boldest superhero project yet, promising to redefine what mature-rated comic book games can achieve.
