Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid open to making Bale loan deal permanent

After barely making it into the starting XI for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, Gareth Bale has undergone a complete resurgence in form. The Welshman most recently started in Spurs’ 4-1 defeat of Crystal Palace where he scored a double alongside Harry Kane.

The Welshman has scored 10 goals across all competitions and has assisted 2, with those numbers coming out of 22 games. Considering that they were static for a majority of the games, we are finally starting to see the true potential of the winger.

Things almost escalated to a breaking point during the winter transfer window wherein Jose Mourinho was actually open to the idea of cancelling the loan deal and sending the player back to Real Madrid due to his poor performances. People close to the club were also aware of the fact that there was general unhappiness around Bale and his performances.

The 31-year-old could now be on the verge of sealing a permanent transfer to Spurs. Real Madrid are open to selling the player, and Spurs would want to keep him if this is the quality he still possesses. However, a key factor for the London club officials to make the deal permanent is that Bale has to keep up this run of form till the end of the season.

The only issue regarding the prospect of signing Bale permanently happens to be his massive salary, and there is still no information as to how the deal will be financed.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6700 XT appears with strange Vulcan and OpenGL results

AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 6700 XT, built using the Navi 22 GPU, has appeared with its performance benchmarks. Various gaming results and the Vulkan and OpenCL capabilities of the card are on full display. The card offers great 1440p performance and is expected to take down both the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070.

Official reports from AMD indicate that the Radeon RX 6700 XT offers better performance than the RTX 3070 at 1440p in several AAA titles. But, when we see the benchmark results published by Harukaze, which is based on several titles like the Doom Eternal and Shadow of The Tomb Raider, we found that AMD’s upcoming card is quite powerful.

According to reports, the Radeon RX 6700 XT offers up to 5% better GPU performance in Doom Eternal than the RTX 3060 Ti and 3% higher FPS in Shadow of The Tomb Raider. If the results are anything to go by, then the Radeon RX 6700 XT is up to 8% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 1% faster than the GeForce RTX 3070.

Coming to the Vulkan and OpenCL, it is reported that the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT scores 55278 points in the Vulkan benchmark & 102831 points within the OpenCL benchmark in Geekbench 5. When compared to NVIDIA’s GPU, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is slower than the RTX 2080 SUPER in OpenCL and also slower than even the Radeon RX 5700 XT in the OpenCL benchmark.

But the results are quite strange, considering that AMD’s RX 6000 series graphics cards are its next-gen GPUs, so they have worse performance than their Vega, and Navi-based predecessors in both benchmarks are certainly quite strange.

The poor performance on the OpenCL and Vulcan might be the result of the new RDNA 2 graphics architecture. As both the GPU performance benchmark tools require some time to get set with the RDNA 2 architecture, and also that the AMD’s platform is relatively new that would make the numbers appear strange.

Coming to the specifications, the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is built on the company’s Navi 22 XT GPU that features 40 compute units which equal to 2560 stream processors. The clock speeds of the GPU are reported to be at 2321 MHz base, 2424 MHz Game, and 2581 MHz boost.

The chip also features 40 Ray accelerators for raytracing capabilities on the RDNA 2 based GPUs. It will be powered by an 8+6 pin connector configuration. The card’s TDP is rated at 230W which is close to the GeForce RTX 3070.

The card will also feature 12 GB GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit bus interface. It is reported to have up to 16 Gbps dies which would net a total bandwidth of 384 GB/s for the cards. The fully Gen 4.0 compliant card comes with three DisplayPort 1.4 and a single HDMI 2.1 port.

iPhone 12 production starts in India, Apple announces

0

Apple has started the assembly of iPhone 12 in India, the US tech giant said, a move that is expected to help the US tech giant further consolidate its position in the world’s second-biggest smartphone market.

“We are proud to be starting production of iPhone 12 in India for our local customers,” Apple said in a statement on Thursday, according to Gadgets NDTV, without naming the supplier making the smartphone.

However, two sources familiar with the matter have informed NDTV that the Indian unit of Apple’s Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn, which has a plant in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, will assemble the device.

Foxconn, which has previously said it does not comment on client-specific work, did not immediately respond to a comment request.

The Cupertino, California-headquartered Apple has been shifting some areas of production from China to other markets as it navigates the trade war between the US and China. A person familiar with the matter said in November that at Apple’s request, Foxconn is moving some iPad and MacBook assembly to Vietnam from China.

Apple has bet big on India since it begin iPhone assembly in the country in 2017, the first of it being iPhone SE, via another Taiwanese supplier, Wistron. iPhone 10R and iPhone 11 were also manufactured.

According to NDTV, third-party manufacturers for Apple, Foxconn, Wistron, and a third supplier Pegatron, “have together committed roughly $900 million (roughly Rs. 6,540 crores) over five years to make iPhone models in India, leveraging New Delhi’s $6.7 billion (roughly Rs. 48,660 crores) plan to boost smartphone exports.”

According to a Reuters report from last month, Apple is also planning to bring the assembly of its iPad tablet to India.

“Nice to see our efforts to make India a big hub of mobile and components manufacturing is attracting global attention,” India’s technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted following news of iPhone 12 production in India.

“This will create jobs in large numbers.”

Apple’s rivals include Samsung and OnePlus in the premium smartphone segment. The iPhone maker has been aggressively ramping up its presence in the Indian market.

In January, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, had stated that the company has doubled its business in India in the December quarter due to the successful performance of its online store, and it sees a good growth trajectory going ahead.

“India is one of those, where our share is quite low. It did improve from the year-ago quarter. Our business roughly doubled over that period of time. And so, we feel perfect about the trajectory. We are doing several things in the area. We put the online store there, for example, and last quarter was the first full quarter of the online store,” Cook had said, according to India TV.

Apple’s growth has been noted by research firms like Counterpoint, who reported that the tech company captured the sixth spot in terms of shipment in India in the Q4 2020 with 171 percent year-on-year growth, and 93 percent growth in 2020 over the previous year.

Barcelona want to keep Ousmane Dembele; contract talks to begin soon

0

Ousmane Dembele had been linked to Manchester United extensively, and things escalated quickly on deadline day during the summer transfer window of 2020. However, United were unable to fund a permanent transfer for the player who ended up staying at Barcelona.

The newly re-elected Barcelona president, Joan Laporta is set to talk to the French winger right after the situation surrounding Lionel Messi is sorted out. This, of course, will require a draw-up of the long term project in place at Barcelona. For the time being, though, Dembele still has time on his contract and there are still a few months till the end of the season.

The player himself wanted to renew his contract, and the situation now is complicated. The club is expected to adopt a rather extremist attitude towards the player’s future at the club in the sense that they will either extend his contract or sell him while a move for the player will still get them money. But all that said, they do ideally want to keep him.

Should they be unable to agree on a new deal with the player, Juventus, Manchester United and Liverpool are rumoured to be willing to try and sign him.

Abigail Kawonza: Paving the way for successful women on and off the field

0

Just in time for International Women’s month, Abigail Kawonza continues to push boundaries and take Rugby Africa to new heights, reminding us that even if one-woman scores, we all win

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, March 11, 2021/ — The inclusion and integration of women in sports has been a contentious topic over the years. As the industry continues to open space for women all around the world, International Women’s month is a good time to not only commemorate pioneers such as Abigail Kawonza, who have pushed boundaries and opened doors for other women – but to also celebrate the work done to date. Having been involved in rugby for over two decades – Abigail Kawonza has witnessed the industry’s many wins and losses. However, in her role as one of Rugby Africa’s Unstoppables, she has also seen and celebrated many developments, especially in a sport that was largely considered for men. Being part of the Unstoppables, a campaign dedicated to fast-tracking the development of women’s rugby in Africa, Kawonza pridefully notes that one of the major developments in her time is “the widespread acceptance of women taking part in rugby tournaments which has helped to project the sport onto higher platforms and expand its popularity. We have seen a change from just articles to women’s rugby being accepted in Olympics and Commonwealth Games.”

Coralie van den Berg, General Manager of World Rugby African Association, Rugby Africa, testifies to this, explaining that increasingly “more tournaments including women’s categories are being developed. When unions now launch a new tournament, they tend to always include a women’s category which is a very positive development.”

Kawonza notes that some of the major improvements she has also seen on a global scale is “the increase in funding covering the development of the game in both sevens and the fifteens format as well as younger and stronger players emerging.” As the industry increasingly makes provision for women, Kawonza also notes an increase in adequate skill levels to showcase great games at any level due to properly accredited coaches taking time to coach women. “Let’s not forget qualified female technical staff taking the reins” she adds. Kawonza’s passion for sports and her journey as an Unstoppable has also opened bigger opportunities for her, allowing her to make even wider strides towards opening the industry for other talented women rooting on the other side of the fence. One of the key achievements being her role as the President of the Zimbabwe Rugby Referees Association which has opened opportunities to better guide younger referees towards maintaining best practice. Beyond the amazing strides Kawonza has made in her career, her tenure as an Unstoppable has further expanded her impact beyond Zimbabwe’s grounds. “I appreciate that my influence has gone beyond the Zimbabwean borders as I also work closely with regional and international union boards”, says Kawonza. “The recognition as an Unstoppable has opened doors for more women in Zimbabwe, and I intend to ride the wave for as long as I can. Taking young match officials and players with me” she adds.

In her Scrumqueens Q&A, Maha Zaoui shares the same sentiment as Kawonza, adding that “the creation of the Women’s Rugby Advisory Committee at Rugby Afrique and its 4 sub-committees speaks to the global vision of women’s rugby in Africa. We are no longer talking about priorities but about a global project that will affect all related sectors in women’s rugby.” Kawonza’s key focus has been to bridge the gap between talent search and development and foster talent that can soar to professional rugby heights. About talent, Rugby Africa Referee Manager, Mudiwa Mundawarara shares that “over the years, the support of the South African Rugby Union and French Rugby Federation has been tremendous, and I am pleased that it will continue with greater emphasis on talent identification, on training and coaching of referees from the rest of the continent. This will eventually lead to greater opportunities for them through a selection process drawn from the strengthened development cohorts.” Beyond opening doors for young women, Kawonza’s role as an Unstoppable also enabled her to mentor upcoming players to be smart about their careers beyond the field. “I have a different view as an “older” if not the oldest Unstoppable – I encourage young women to pursue their education to the fullest because sport goes beyond what you do on the field, it’s about you being articulate and able to represent yourself as a brand in the world out there. This will help you go beyond the field when you reach your “shelf-life” or even if playing is not your thing but still have that passion for rugby” says Kawonza. Kawonza’s journey as a pioneer is far from over, as a believer in the power of mentorship Kawonza adds that “everyone needs a hero and my vision is to build a mentorship program for women who have been successful in the field (coaching, match officiating, administration) where they too can be able to mentor the young women, on and off the field of play.”

Juventus sticking with Ronaldo and Pirlo for the future

0

Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League against Porto with the Portuguese outfit progressing on goal difference. This has led to questions being asked of the future of the Italian Champions, and more importantly, of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

Ronaldo is being paid €32 million after taxes per season Juventus, which is a hefty investment in the current financial market. They are going to continue with Andrea Pirlo for the next season and are already planning to change their squad.

The Bianconeri have players like Chiellini and Buffon who are nearing the end of the cycle and need replacing. It won’t be easy for the still novice manager, with the Scudetto situation as well but they are still planning for the future.

They are planning to start something new. Weston McKennie signed a new permanent deal with the club, and Chiesa alongside De Ligt are two of the brightest young talents in the squad. Chiesa was on Manchester United’s list a year ago but he didn’t want to leave Italy and didn’t want a move to foreign clubs. He pushed for a move to Juventus alongside AC Milan and potentially Inter, but ended up being signed by the reigning champions.

chiesa Juventus sticking with Ronaldo and Pirlo for the future

Cristiano still has another year of contract and they are planning to go on with their partnership. He is beyond angry and is very disappointed with another Champions League exit in March.

Fabio Paratici, the director of the club has stated that it’s not an issue, and that they will discuss his situation in the coming months. Fabrizio Romano pointed out that he idn’t say it was a priority. A statement like this will surely lead to talks about his future, but the Portuguese’s situation at Juventus is very different from Messi at Barca.

Juventus don’t want to keep anyone who doesn’t want to stay. Ronaldo hasn’t said anything yet about his future at the club either. They haven’t received anything from any clubs, and it is also worth noting that there are not many who can afford him. Hence, for the foreseeable future, Ronaldo moving away from Juventus is not a possibility.

Adobe Photoshop Version 22.3 features support for the Apple M1 Silicon

0

Adobe finally receives the update for photoshop which brings native to Apple Silicon. Adobe promises the users that they can have the experience of 1.5 times faster performance than running Adobe Photoshop via Rosetta emulation. In November 2020, the beta was announced, version 22.3 of Photoshop has now officially added support for the Apple Silicon.

It should be known that there are some caveats here while you are getting native operations. Users can now run Photoshop as a native Apple Silicon app or Rosetta emulation for starters. Under the native mode there, certain features will not be available. According to Adobe, the Apple Silicon doesn’t support the ability to import, export, and playback embedded video players.

Adobe is also noting down some known issues that beta users reported for Apple Silicon support. Adobe has informed that the ability to copy/paste edits between an Adobe app running natively on Apple Silicon and running through the Rosetta emulation is currently not supported. Adobe as a solution recommends that both the applications run under the same model, which suggests that you are running them either through the Apple Silicon or through the Rosetta emulation.

Along with the support for Apple Silicon, the latest Adobe Photoshop also able to bring general and expected bug fixes and improvements. Adobe Creative Cloud customers can begin the new experience and start updating Photoshop using the Creative Cloud app on their Macs. If you need more information about the update, you can check out here and read all the changes.
