Manchester City interested in Renan Lodi; new contracts remain priorities

Manchester City are currently in amazing form and have managed to keep 6 clean sheets out of their last 7 games in the Premier League, conceding only one goal against West Brom in their 1-1 draw.

Pep Guardiola has managed to drastically turn things around from the beginning of the season, with the Cityzens boasting of the best defensive record in the division, conceding only 12 goals in the league so far.

On paper, the Sky Blues seem to have massive quality in every single position on the pitch. However, one of the only positions on the pitch that can be called a drawback in the lineup is that of left-back.

Benjamin Mendy has been prone to making errors, and Zinchenko has been out of the team for a good while now. The club has hence been linked with Atletico Madrid full-back Renan Lodi to possibly fix the problem.

Speaking on the transfer rumour on their Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio said that there was currently no agreement in place between the two clubs. It will be very difficult to get the player in January since Atletico are in a very strong position in La Liga and will want to hold on to the player till the end of the season.

Will It Be Manchester City or Liverpool That Lifts the Premier League Trophy?
Sergio Aguero is tearing down his enemies by his goals

Much like Liverpool, Manchester City will be holding off the big-money transfers in the winter owing to the difficult financial situation across the world despite their reputation for being extremely well-equipped from the monetary side of things.

The club are currently trying to negotiate new deals with Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, who have proven to be two of their most important players in recent times. Sergio Aguero is yet to inform the club regarding his decision, and it is totally up to the player whether he wants to stay or leave.

Marcos Alonso to Atletico Madrid will have to wait

Since the arrival of Ben Chilwell at Chelsea, Marcos Alonso has regularly found himself out of the Chelsea matchday squad, barely making an appearance for the team in matchdays. Even a place on the bench has been unlikely for the Spaniard, with Emerson being preferred instead.

While there were links with a transfer to Inter Milan during last winter’s transfer window, as well as the summer went by, the 30-year-old has stayed put at Chelsea. However, his days at Stamford Bridge are numbered for sure, with Frank Lampard preferring the other options at his disposal.

Atletico Madrid has been one of the destinations apart from Inter that are reportedly interested in bringing Alonso home. The former Real Madrid player has experience in La Liga, and is also familiar with the city from his time with Los Blancos.

Clarifying the situation on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio indicated that there is currently no contact between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Marcos Alonso. However, something could be on the cards at the end of the season.

A loan deal could be favourable for the Rojiblancos, or even a swap deal. The Italian journalists mentioned that it would be difficult for Atletico to pay up for the player given the dire financial condition for Spanish clubs, who have it much worse than other countries in Europe.

A move to Inter Milan to January also looks unlikely given that Antonio Conte’s squad is absolutely stacked right now. However, the Italian coach could reunite with Alonso at the end of the season when the finances stabilise and business can resume as usual for the big European clubs.

Becky Hammon becomes the first woman to serve as head coach in an NBA game

On Wednesday night, Becky Hammon achieved her goal of becoming an NBA head coach, although for a brief amount of time. It was the first time a woman served as head coach in a regular season NBA game.

After arguing with a referee in the second quarter of a game with the Los Angeles Lakers in San Antonio, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was ejected. He turned to Hammon, who is one of his assistant coaches, and indicated that she take over as the team’s acting head coach.

A WNBA veteran, Hammon has been an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs since 2014. She is one of the six women who hold an assistant coaching role in the NBA this season – after a record 11 last season. Previously, she served as the head coach of the Spurs’ summer league team and had taken over for Popovich in a preseason game in October 2017. As the Spurs rotated head coaches during the scrimmages leading up to the NBA’s restart in Orlando last season, she coached the team in an exhibition matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.

This Wednesday marked the first time she acted as head coach for a regular-season game. Up until last season, it was team legend and then-assistant coach Tim Duncan that stepped into Popovich’s seat as head coach whenever Popovich had to be away for personal reasons.

When asked about her experience, Hammon said, “It was business as usual.” “They’re used to hearing my voice in practice, Pop will put us in two teams and we’ll each have a team. So they’re kind of used to hearing me out there, seeing me draw a play on the board or whatnot,” she remarked.

San Antonio lost the game to Los Angeles 121-107. The loss will officially go on Popovich’s record since NBA’s bookkeeping rules say that all results belong to the team’s listed head coach and not any other replacements.

Jadon Sancho transfer saga to continue till summer 2021; no move in January

After a groundbreaking 19/20 season with Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho seems to have hit a plateau on the pitch. The youngster has himself confessed that the rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United are partly to blame for the drop in form.

The summer transfer window of 2020 was filled with rumours linking the former Manchester City winger with a return to the city, only this time, to don a red jersey. However, despite there being reports of personal terms being agreed between the player and the club, Sancho ended up staying in Germany.

Speaking on the highly anticipated next destination for the English wonderkid, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio said on their Here We Go podcast that the race for Sancho would be on next summer.

The winger is expected to stay at Dortmund during the January transfer window, mainly since no club is willing to spend in excess of €100 million in the middle of the season especially due to the current financial situation worldwide.

Right now, Sancho’s main focus is regaining his best form at Dortmund and to help the club challenge for the league title once again, along with possibly making it deep into the Champions League knockout stages as well.

The latest on Diego Costa’s next club

Diego Costa was recently released by Atletico Madrid, and the striker is currently a free agent. There have been various reports linking him to the likes of Brazil, his birthplace, as well as to China.

Speaking on the topic on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio clarified the situation, saying clubs all around the world are  interested in his services. However, not many can match the €8 million wage before taxes that the striker is currently demanding.

With the recent wage cap introduced in China, a move to the east looks very unlikely. According to the podcast, Guangzhou Evergrande FC were interested in Diego Costa over the last few years, but failed to sign him.

The Chinese club could still try one more time to sign the player now that he is a free agent.

Arsenal were also one of the clubs being linked with a move for Diego Costa, potentially setting up a return to London for the former Spanish international striker. However, those rumours have now been squashed by Romano, saying that Arsenal have not contacted him.

Some Premier League clubs are apparently in contact with his agent, so a potential return to England cannot be ruled out completely. What ultimately becomes of the striker remains to be seen in the month to come.

Corellium gets relief against Apple

Apple doesn’t allow any third party OEM to run neither its Mobiles OS nor its PC operating system. Either you run them in Apple’s hardware or you don’t run them at all. But most importantly it never allows anyone to mess with it.

A start-up company which goes by the name of Corellium, made it possible to run ‘virtual iPhones’ on desktop computers. And as all might have guessed, Apple didn’t like it. The start-up was pulled in a legal battle with Apple last year.

But to everyone’s surprise, at the end of 2020, a Florida judge has ruled that the start-up’s business practices were in fair use, and this gave Corellium a certain amount of relief, at least for now.

“Weighing all the necessary factors, the Court finds that Corellium has met its burden of establishing fair use. Thus, its use of iOS in connection with the Corellium Product is permissible.”

According to the lawsuit filed by the Cupertino based giant, the start-up illegally replicated the OS and apps running on both the iPad and iPhone. Corellium makes software that creates digital replicas of iOS, iTunes, and its user interface elements. All this is available on a web-based platform or custom platform built by the start-up. Apple has argued that the software would open iPhones to security flaws as it is designed to make an exact copy of iOS.

However, Corellium also countered Apple’s claims and stated that its software aided Apple by making it easier for security researchers to find bugs. The company even stated that Apple, by using the lawsuit is trying to limit the landscape of jailbreaking. Well after receiving the verdict from Florida, Corellium is expected to resume its business activities. But if we know Apple, and that we do, I don’t it’s going to give up on bringing down Corellium. The Cupertino giant had already tried to acquire the start-up back in 2018 but failed. As to what it is going to do next, let’s wait and find out.

Adaptive Charging is here to prolong the battery life of your Pixel devices

0

The year-end of 2020 brought us many amazing updates in the software industry; one of the most well-deserved updates was delivered by Google. For its final updates of the which Google drops every December, the company released a trio of smart features to optimize Pixel usage better.

The updates released are Adaptive sound, Adaptive Charging, and Adaptive Adaptive Connectivity. Among these, the most significant is Adaptive charging. It allows the Pixel to slowly overnight to preserve battery health, which is the most significant, but there are key requirements to get it to work.

“Adaptive Charging helps preserve battery health over time by dynamically controlling how quickly Pixel device charges. Just plug in your phone in the evening, set an alarm, and the Adaptive Charging will work its magic.”

The new feature will charge the device for over several hours rather than working as quickly as possible to get to 100%. But there is still an issue of users being concerned about why it is taking their device so long to charge as we already know that we all have adapted quite well to the fast charging technology. But the feature is meant to make the battery life more prolonged and will also increase power efficiency.

It can be manually enabled/disabled from Settings > Battery > Adaptive Battery > Adaptive charging, while Google will note when it’s active at the bottom of the Ambient/Always-on Display. From Google’s description, all users need to (1) charge at night, and (2) have an alarm.

The feature is available on Pixel 4/XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5.
