Acer introduces all-AMD powered Aspire 5

0

Not all laptop users need to have the best of specs to get by. Some of them require a system simply for light usage. Remembering that very thought, Acer has introduced the Aspire 5 at CES 2021, powered by AMD Ryzen 5000U APUs, whereas the graphics component is taken care of by the Radeon RX 640 dGPU for light graphic workloads.

The Aspire 5 can be configured with up to 1 TB of NVMe or 2 TB of HDD storage. The device comes with an FHD 15.6-inch IPS display with Acer BlueLight Shield to filter harmful blue light emissions. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity comes as standard.

The all-AMD powered laptop is also deemed to be a portable one, weighing in at 2.15 kg. The Acer Aspire 5 (A515-45 G/S) is expected to be available from April with prices starting from €499

The 14-inch gaming laptop has upgraded from Ryzen 4000 series APUs to AMD’s new Ryzen 5000 series. Also, ASUS has adopted NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture and has upgraded the ROG Zephyrus G14 to the GeForce RTX 3060. Another notable change is that ASUS has equipped the machine with the Max-P version of the GeForce RTX 3060, which should represent a significant performance increase from the GeForce RTX 2060- Max-Q found in last year’s model.

The CPU and GPU in the ROG Zephyrus G14 does the rest of the device a disservice although. The new model retains its predecessor’s chassis, which means that its weight will be around 1.6 kg with a smaller footprint than that of most other gaming laptops.

Further, there will be improved display options on the 1080p and 120 Hz panels that ASUS also offered last year. According to ASUS, the new ROG Zephyrus G14 will be available with a 1440p and 120 Hz display in only a few markets, but most countries will receive a 1440p and 144 Hz one, instead. ASUS is yet to confirm when and where it plans to release the ROG Zephyrus G14 and its other details.

CES 2021: Asus launches its ROG Flow X13 2-in-1 Ultrabook and XG Mobile external GPU

0

Asus threw all of its craziest ideas into the latest 13-inch convertible laptop called Asus Flow X13. It will one of the first to feature a Ryzen 7 5800HS CPU up to the Ryzen 9 5980HS. It will also come equipped with a GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, although Asus does not specify if it will be a Max-Q, Max-P, or even Ti variant.

However, it will have a 35 W TDP to suggest that it will be similar to the one found on the Razer Blade Stealth. It will also sport liquid metal cooling, an 8 core, 16 threaded AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS CPU, vapor chamber external graphics, and a 16:10 120 Hz Gorilla Glass touchscreen.

Asus launched its ROG Flow X13 2-in-1 Ultrabook and XG Mobile external GPU

The second characteristic feature of the laptop is its special ROG XG Mobile external GPU dock. The tiny dock measures only 208 x 155 x 29.6 mm and it houses a non-removable mobile GeForce RTX 3080 GPU using vapor chamber cooling and an active fan. Additionally, the dock integrates I/O ports and is able to recharge the laptop simultaneously.

The concept of the Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile dock is intriguing. Although it will require a proprietary connector meaning that the dock will not work on any laptop other than the Flow X13.

On the other hand, the special connector offers a wider PCIe x8 bandwidth while all current Thunderbolt-based eGPUs are limited to PCIe X4. Asus also claims that Flow X13 users can squeeze more performance out of its external RTX 3080 as compared to Thunderbolt solutions with the same GPU.

The Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile dock will launch prior to the end of this quarter with prices TBA. The dock will be sold separately and as a package with the laptop.

CES 2021: Razor brings improvements to its Blade series

0

For the CES 2021, Razer brought new improvements to its Blade 15 and Pro 17 gaming laptops. Both the laptops had similar features and were almost identical with minimal differences. But currently, we can say that the models seem to be added with a little difference in their specs.

The biggest change which the manufacturer brought to the series was the inclusion of QHD screens. The screen is a 1440p QHD display with a fast refresh rate and comes with Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate tech built-in.

The inclusion of a 1440p screen is a huge gain for the company as the gaming laptops always have been sporting 1080p and 4K displays. but now gamers have a new option for the gaming laptop displays.

For high-end laptops of the series, the manufacturer will equip them with Nvidia’s new RTX 3000-series graphics chips. The Blade 15 Advanced which is the name for the high-end model comes with the RTX 3070 and a QHD screen with G-Sync. The laptop will cost $2,499.

The laptop can also be customized up to a special variant of the RTX 3080 with 16GB of VRAM. The bigger Blade Pro 17 will start at $2,299 and will feature the RTX 3060.
