0

The Red team has made a quarterly revenue of $3.24B up 53% year-over-year; Full year revenue of $9.76B up by 45%

AMD is setting some new industry standards and proving why it’s the safest place for investment now. We knew AMD would post strong Q4 revenue results, and it did so but much better than expected, thanks to the strong demand in every segment of their business.

From High-Performance Computing to Gaming CPUs, from powering the new Xbox Series consoles & Sony PS5s to Datacenter computing, AMD is everywhere. This is why the company has posted a whopping $3.24 billion revenue in Q4 2020, with an operating income of $570 million, net income of $1.78 billion, and diluted earnings per share of $1.45.

Whereas in the total year of 2020, AMD has reported $9.76 billion, operating income of $1.37 billion, net income of $2.49 billion, and diluted earnings per share of $2.06. This performance year-over-year shows AMD’s promising performance in the Silicon Valley.

AMD made a record $3.24 billion revenue in Q4 2020

“We significantly accelerated our business in 2020, delivering record annual revenue while expanding gross margin and more than doubling net income from 2019,” said Dr. Lisa Su, AMD president, and CEO.

“Our 2021 financial outlook highlights the strength of our product portfolio and robust demand for high-performance computing across the PC, gaming, and data center markets. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and very confident in our long-term strategy as we continue executing our leadership product roadmaps.”

Breaking the total revenue, a chunk of revenue came from the computing and Graphics segment revenue that was $1.96 billion, up by 18% year-over-year, and strong sales of Ryzen processors primarily drive quarter-over-quarter.

These numbers could be permanent as the demand for consoles and server CPUs will increase even more with time.

AMD also has predicted a $3.2 billion revenue, plus or minus $100 million, in the first quarter of 2021. Whereas for the full year 2021, AMD expects revenue growth of approximately 37% over 2020, driven by growth in all businesses.

Why Thomas Tuchel could save Chelsea’s season?

0

Thomas Tuchel was announced as the new Chelsea Head Coach after Frank Lampard’s dismissal from the job yesterday. Chelsea now have their first-ever German head coach, and he is no stranger to silverware, having won the domestic treble with Paris Saint-Germain in his last job and made it to the finals of the Champions League.

So, while he surely has the right credentials and the experience to lead the young squad, whether or not things will improve is still something that remains to be seen.

There is good reason to believe that Tuchel will be successful at the club, and here are the reasons why:

1. The German Connection

While many have outlined the German-speaking connection between Havertz, Werner, and Tuchel, few have thought about the manager’s potential to impact the game along the lines of the fact that he knows the way these forwards are wired to think on the pitch in Germany.

Having known the style of play in his home country with Mainz and Dortmund, he could communicate what they need to do to adapt in England and could be the answer to getting the best out of the players.

2. Experience Managing Big Egos

Tuchel’s spell at both Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain saw him manage some of the world’s biggest players in the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Marco Reus, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. With so many talented young players at Chelsea, a man having experience managing a dressing room full of big players is the right call to not only shape youngsters but make the bigger players adapt.

3. Tactics and His Free Flow Approach

With experience managing very different squads in Dortmund, Mainz, and Paris, Tuchel has a deep knowledge and understanding of tactics and changing them in the middle of the match. He often trusts the players to develop creative solutions to problems on the pitch, which has worked wonders for forwards under him time and time again.

With a plethora of attacking talent at his disposal at Chelsea, the forwards could have a complete change in their game going forward thanks to the new appointment.

First 18 Minutes Gameplay of The Medium on XSX – delivers Dual-World Storytelling

0

It’s just one day left before the launch of The Medium, the first big console exclusive of the Xbox Series X. You can check out the first 18 minutes of gameplay and the courtesy goes to IGN.

The first point to be noticed is the game plays almost like the survival horror games having those “cinematic” camera angles. Also, the dual-world mechanic of the game has been seen, as we see Marianne, the main character coax a ghost to go to the other side.

Below, here is the 18-minutes gameplay video of The Medium.

You can see the unnaturally high brightness in the opening cut scene, which is an error, but it will be fixed after the launch at some time. In the game trailer, we saw Marianne exploring a haunted hotel gradually enters into the story with number of tragic deaths. The game is set in Krakow, Poland. This is assumed that the game will not give a AAA horror experience. Let’s see what the game brings after the release.

Here is a short description of The Medium from developer Bloober Team:

“Become a medium living in two different worlds: the real one and the spirit one. Haunted by the vision of a child’s murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel, which many years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy. There you begin your search for difficult answers. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive. Nothing is what it seems. The Medium features a “dual” soundtrack by Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski and legendary composer Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame.”

The Medium is now releasing for Xbox Series X|S and PC on January 28, 2021.

Offside rules clarified after the controversial goal in Villa Vs City forces debates

0

Aston Villa’s clash against Manchester City was a memorable 90 minutes which showed quality on the pitch, as well as a fair share of controversy that always seems to surround the Premier League. The first goal of the game came midway through the second half and had an unfair buildup, leading to the finish by Bernardo Silva.

City midfielder Rodri came back from an offside position to steal the ball from Tyrone Mings in his own half, and then went on to set up Silva for the opener. The outrageous reaction to the goal from Villa boss Dean Smith got him sent off and the Midlands club proceeded to concede a penalty later in the match to end the match two goals down.

Refereeing body PGMOL held a discussion with IFAB and UEFA to discuss the issue. Here is what the two governing bodies had to say regarding the debated outcome of the move pulled off by Rodri:

‘Where a player in an offside position immediately impacts on an opponent who has deliberately played the ball, the match officials should prioritise challenging an opponent for the ball, and thus the offside offence of ‘interfering with an opponent by impacting on the opponent’s ability to play the ball’ should be penalised.’

Hence, should a player come back from an offside position and tackle a defender in possession, any goal following the move would be ruled out. However, if the defender is given the chance to play the ball and is then intercepted, the goal will be allowed to stand, if it occurs.

A recent discovery, first reported by Marca, reports that Barcelona owe 19 other clubs as much as €126 million in the short term for player signings. The same document reveals that the club will have to pay out €196 million in the long run. The club still owes money for players that are no longer at the club like Arthur Melo, Malcolm and Jose Arnaiz.

There was speculation in the past regarding Barcelona paying Atletico Madrid a sum worth €15 million for silence over the documents regarding the signing of Antoine Griezmann, and preference in future signings of players from the club. The document now reveals that Barcelona owe Atletico €5 million for ‘preferential rights’.

Moreover, Barcelona still owe Liverpool €29 million this financial year for Phillipe Coutinho, who is currently out injured for a few months and has made 14 appearances for the team this season. The total sum owed for the deal is worth €40 million, which might be cleared off in the next financial year.

Odin Ighalo bids farewell to Manchester United in an emotional message

0

Odin Ighalo was signed on loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua. He will return to Shanghai at the end of this month as his loan spell at United comes to an end.

But it’s unlikely that he will stay at Shanghai Shenhua as he already has a £7m-a-year offer from a club in Dubai plus interest from MLS clubs and the Premier League among his options.

Ighalo has scored 5 goals in 23 matches in all competitions during his time at Old Trafford but since the arrival of Edison Cavani, he has fallen further down the pecking order.

The boyhood United fan said in a tweet: “It’s so hard to see this dream come to an end.”

“But I give God the glory for helping me fulfil this lifelong dream of putting on a Manchester United shirt as a player and represent this great club, it was indeed an honour I will forever cherish and be grateful for.”

“To the manager I say thank you for trusting and believing in me when many did not. To my amazing team-mate I will miss you guys, it was always fun… and I pray we win the league and FA Cup this year.”

“To the best fans in the world (the Manchester United fans) we have missed you, but we hear your voices cheering us on from afar, we can’t wait to have you all back in the stands. ‘I’m still and will remain a Manchester United fan forever. Once a Red, always a Red. Thank you Manchester United and God bless.”

Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that former Nigeria international Ighalo has openly admitted he would be keen on a move to play in America in the MLS. David Beckham’s 2018-founded Inter Miami side is a potential option. Inter Miami also has former PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi and former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain in their ranks.
