Epic Paid A Total of $11M to Give Away Free Games in The First Nine Months

0

As per a report, Epic has spent more than $11.6 million on the free games in the initial nine months, from December 2018 to September 2019. Simon Carless, the founder of GameDiscoverCo has explained that the document has been unveiled prematurely. Mistakenly, those documents were included with Epic’s documents. But immediately those documents were quickly removed.

The total document shows the disparity of payments for several games to give them away. Edmund McMillen earned $200,000 from his The End is Nigh, whereas Annapurna’s What Remains of Edith Finch earned $125,000. Epic paid $800,000 for Inside and $350,000 for Limbo, but only $150,000 for Alan Wake.

Batman: Arkham trilogy got the best payment from Epic, which was $1.5 million, and the $1.4 million for Subnautica. Meanwhile, the best bargain was Metro 2033 Redux, which Epic got for free from Deep Silver.

The document doesn’t contain information like, how much Epic did spend for the high-profile giveaways in 2020, such as Grand Theft Auto 5. If the target is to attract new users, diminishing return means it will become increasingly difficult to do that.

Nevertheless, how it decides in future years to proceed with the weekly giveaways, there remains a long way to go before the Epic Games Store stops throwing money: Tim Sweeney, the CEO accepted that currently, Epic Store is not profitable because “it has front-loaded its marketing and user acquisition costs to gain market share.” He doesn’t think that it will able to start making money before 2027.

Intel is spending big time in its Rio Rancho, New Mexico facility to increase its chip packaging technology. reports indicate that the chipmaker will be committing $3.5 billion for this project and plans to increase the Foveros packaging technology by 40%.

Foveros, an advanced 3D packaging technology that allows vertical stacking of compute tiles and is a key component of Intel’s latest chips such as the 7nm Meteor Lake processors, is extremely vital for intel’s future.

The latest technology, as explained by Intel allows for the integration of diverse computing engines across multiple process technologies. The company will also be hiring an additional 700 staff as the facility expands and reports indicate that the silicon maker employs 1,800 personnel on-site and is expected to hire 1,000 construction workers starting this year and spend $550 million on construction and new infrastructure.

To boos, the facility, New Mexico’s state government announced that a portion of taxes Intel pays on its construction spending can be rebated back to the company. This is good news for Intel, as the amount is valued at up to $14 million, split between the state and the local governments of Rio Rancho and the surrounding County.

Intel also getting big support from other parts of the country, according to sources, the state has pledged an additional $5 million from a local development fund, and also Sandoval County, home to the Intel plant, is pledging an additional $500,000 along with the City of Rio Rancho pledging $250,000 to the expansion of its development fund for Intel.

The laptop market down in Q1 2021, but is predicted to pick in Q2 2021

According to recent sources, the laptop market for the first quarter of 2021 has pummelled to a greater extent when compared to last year. Reports indicate that the laptop market share declined by 8.7% compared to the last quarter of 2020.

However, analysts believe that the second quarter of 2021 will bring in new buying orders as it is the time where we see an increase in the buying spree for remote learning and a new time for school beginning across all major markets.

Another reason for the decrease in sales could be that the increase in COVID cases in India is the world’s second-largest market for electronic gadgets.

Analysts claim that laptop shipments will reach 62 million for the second quarter, which is a 10% increase compared to quarter one of 2021. However, many industry experts believe that Apple will not perform up to mark during the second quarter of the year, as the Cupertino giant is busy with the new iMacs and iPad Pros.

Lenovo also could see fewer sales in the company’s sales this quarter as the education season is about close in japan during the second quarter. On the other hand, Dell will make a “brisk” trade from the North American enterprise and educational spaces. In contrast, Acer and Asus might do well out of the Chromebook and gaming sectors, respectively.

Finally, Samsung is likely to have a good 2Q2021 in this market, as it is now demonstrably taking it more seriously with its latest releases.

IPL 2021 postponed: BCCI set to lose over Rs 2000 crore, foreign players are clueless

BCCI postponed IPL 2021 amid increasing COVID-19 cases among the players. Recently, the match between KKR and RCB was postponed as two KKR players were tested positive before the match.

In this circumstance, BCCI decided to postpone this season’s IPL. However, as per the reports, BCCI is set to lose over Rs 2000 crore of the broadcast and sponsorship money earmarked for this year’s Indian Premier League.

A senior BCCI official told PTI, “We would be losing anything between Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 crore for the midway postponement of this season. I would say something in the range of Rs 2200 crore will be closer to accurate estimation.”

“Slash all the payments by half or a bit less and you will be reaching a loss in the range of 2200 crore. The actually losses could be much more but this is a back of the hand calculation for the season.”- he added.

On the other hand, after the postponement, foreign players have become clueless as all the flights are now canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An Australian player said, “Situation is unprecedented. I just spoke to my franchise managers about how I will return to Australia. They have asked us to wait as they are waiting for BCCI’s instructions. I along with my other Australian colleagues are worried, how and where I will go back.”

“I spoke to Slater today morning. He is stuck in the Maldives – no idea where to go. We don’t want to get into such a situation. I am confident, BCCI and franchises will do something about our return journey. I don’t want to spend any time here anymore”-  an overseas player of Sunrisers Hyderabad said.

BCCI has already issued a statement to ease the tension of the foreign players. The statement read, “The BCCI will do everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe passage of all the participants in IPL 2021. We need to send them home and we will find a way to do that.”

Javi Martinez to leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season

Bayern legend Javi Martinez will be leaving Munich in the summer after he and the club reached a mutual decision of not having contract extension talks after nine successful years at the club.

The Spaniard has won a Bundesliga title every season since he’s arrived at Bayern, which sums up 8 league titles, with a ninth one just around the corner. Combining that with 5 DFB Pokals and 4 DFL Super Cups renders him extremely successful in Germany, just the domestic pedigree count. Taking the European and international trophies into account, he has a couple of UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles under his belt, which includes two trebles and a sextuple.

Martinez has had his fair share of moments of brilliance when his side was in desperate need of rescue. Scoring a 120th-minute equalizer in the 2012 UEFA Super Cup to fetch Bayern the victory on penalties is a great mention. He then went on to provide a similar contribution in 2020, when he came on against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup to score the winning goal in extra time to win the said trophy for the second time.

Switching between Centre Back and Defensive Midfield through the years, the 32-year-old has earned immense respect from his fans, teammates, and coaches in his long Bavarian career. Bayern, in a statement, said that he would be getting a farewell alongside teammates David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Coach Hansi Flick, who are also on the move this summer.

While Martinez could always assume going back to Athletic Bilbao, where he would perhaps always be welcome, it wouldn’t stop him from exploring his options and going elsewhere in Europe. However, the Spaniard is arriving towards the end of his career; moving to the MLS could come off as a fairly feasible alternative for him.
