SocialBoat – a fitness app for women, raises funds from Plan B Capital, Abhijit Kane, and angels to provide affordable fitness to 100M women in IndiaSocialBoat

SocialBoat, a women’s health app, has announced raising an angel round of US$ 200K from Plan B Capital. Other angel investors who have committed to the venture include Abhijit Kane (Co-founder, Postman), Videt Jaiswal (Co-founder, Airblack), Bhuvan Gupta (Co-founder, OfBusiness) and Prateek Sharma (Managing Partner, AheadVC), Neeraj Gupta (Angel Investor) among others. The funds will help SocialBoat scale its technology platform, strengthen its tech team, invest in brand building, and partner with health coaches at scale. 

SocialBoat was founded in December 2021 by Swapnil Vats and Rahul Jain to provide affordable and personalized fitness & health programs to over 100M women in India. Presently over 60% of women in India are diagnosed with PCOS after ignoring personal health for years. Nearly 80-85% of them develop obesity and are at high risk of developing infertility, diabetes and cancer. 

Most healthcare providers and fitness companies have shied away from women’s health and primarily focus on a male-centric body or aesthetic fitness goals like weight loss, abs etc. SocialBoat bridges this gap by creating 360-degree fitness programs that cater to women’s specific goals like – managing PCOS, postpartum care and mobility and general healthy living. 

These programs are designed by gynaecologists, fitness coaches and nutrition experts and are presented to the user in the form of an engaging game. In the game, SocialBoat’s AI gives short tasks like 10 min HIIT workout, eating a green salad or going for a 4km walk to the users. As they finish the tasks, they get points and can use them to unlock the next levels and win exciting prizes.

Additionally, there is a championship where users can participate in teams with their friends. The game structure has made healthy living ‘addictive’, with users spending more than 50 minutes a day on the app and 80% of them achieving their goal. 

SocialBoat acquires users by enabling existing fitness communities like – running clubs & cycling groups to create teams in the SocialBoat game. The team acts as a micro pod, where users get a sense of community as they achieve their fitness goals. Some popular teams on the app are created by influencers like Aarja Bedi (Women Strength COach), Greesha Dhingra (Fertility Yoga Trainer), Coach Ravinder (NCR’s largest running group) and organizations like AVIVA India, AIESEC and Punjab Engineering College. 

Presently, there are over 5000+ users, 850+ communities and 500+ success stories on the app. The app is 5/5 rated on Apple App Store and Play Store and was recently ranked #2 on ProductHunt.

Infosys has announced that it has been named one of the top three most valuable IT services brands in the world by Brand Finance. According to the Brand Finance Global 500 2023 report, Infosys’ brand value has increased by 84% since 2020, placing it among the top 150 most valuable brands in the world.

Brand Finance’s Global 500 2023 report now ranks Infosys among the top three most valuable IT Services brands in the world for the second year in a row.

Brand Finance is a brand valuation firm that publishes an annual report on the world’s most valuable and powerful brands. According to Brand Finance, Amazon has reclaimed the top spot as the world’s most valuable brand despite its brand value falling 15% this year from US $350.3 billion to US $299.3 billion.

Apple (brand value down 16% to US$297.5 billion) has dropped to the world’s second most valuable brand, with a brand value of US$355.1 billion. The ranking featured 48 tech brands, which is two fewer than the 50 featured in 2022.

AMD and partners are reportedly making A620 entry-level chipset for its Ryzen 7000 CPU Series

AMD Ryzen 7000 sales were directly related to AM5 motherboard pricing. AMD’s new platform necessitates a new socket and more expensive DDR5 memory technology. AMD launched the Ryzen 7000 non-X series earlier this month in an effort to provide a cheaper alternative to 65W processors. However, slower CPUs may occasionally sell for more than their faster ‘X’ counterparts.

When comparing both companies’ latest platforms (AM5 vs LGA1700), AMD initially lost the value battle to Intel; however, the red team isn’t standing still and has taken actions to correct these initial flaws, such as the introduction of Ryzen 7000 Non-X CPUs, which come at lower prices and offer nearly the same performance while running cooler and delivering far better power efficiency, and the upcoming Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs, which will bring gamers attention to the AM5 platform.

AMD motherboard partners are preparing lower-cost AM5 options in the form of the A620 chipset lineup, which will be available next month.

Since the release of AM5, no motherboard manufacturer has released a product priced at the $125 US tier that AMD had promised. In fact, most of the B650 motherboards, which were supposed to restore affordability to the AM5 platform, ended up at exorbitant prices, making the AM4 platform even more appealing.

The AMD A620 chipset has yet to be officially announced, but AMD has promised that a lower-cost AM5 solution will be available to consumers in February. As a result, motherboard manufacturers are preparing to launch the motherboards, and some of these new products, including four Gigabyte products, have leaked at EEC.

In addition to the Gigabyte motherboards, one ASUS A620 model, the TUF Gaming Plus (DDR5), is available at Goofish for 799 RMB. That’s still around $120 USD, but when compared to the B650 offering, that’s a price difference of nearly $110 USD, which is massive. Prices at Goofish aren’t always final, and they could be even lower.

Apple will launch the next-gen Apple TV with a faster processor in 2024

The Cupertino giant is looking forward to upgrading its existing products including the Apple TV which has not been updated yet though Apple TV 4K got a new upgrade last year. So, it’s been suspected by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman that will continue to improve its home ecosystem of products including the Apple TV.

The upcoming Apple TV box will be updated with a new chip, a bit slower than the one used in the 4K variant and should not support up to 8K video streaming. However, in terms of design, we expect no change as it resembles the Apple TV 4K and is likely to have a basic design.

Though very little is known about the exact specifications or launch it’s safely assumed that Apple will launch it by next year i.e. 2024. Not only this, but also Apple has other home ecosystem products lined up and there could be a device or software by which one can combine the likes of Apple TV‌, smart speaker, and FaceTime camera altogether.

However, as of now preassuming all this is still early because Apple had a lot of setbacks earlier and its primary focus is on improving its display, making it in-house, a lot of things are ongoing with Apple. Another product we could see from the Cupertino giant could be a new Smart Display for controlling all its HomeKit devices and more, but everything is estimated to launch in 2024.

India defeat New Zealand by 12 runs to scrape to 1-0 lead in ODI series

India defeated New Zealand by 12 runs in their first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Shubman Gill scored his maiden double century to help India put up 349 for the loss of eight by the end of their innings. 

But, New Zealand had an impressive batting order themselves, and put up a strong fight until the end. Michael Bracewell scored 140 off of 78 deliveries to keep the visitors in the hunt for the win, but fell short by little. 

India defeat New Zealand in first ODI to lead series 

The first innings was a one-man show for the most part, as Shubman Gill scored 208 runs from 149 balls. The next best score on the sheet was from the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, who put up 34 from 38. Gill might have just settled the debate for the opening spot, as he has been in phenomenal form for the last few games. And his double century will certainly put an end to any further objections for the foreseeable future. 

Gill became the youngest player in ODI history to score a double century. But he wasn’t the only player to put up three digits. 

Mohammed Siraj picked up four wickets for India, and with New Zealand under serious pressure at 131/6 at 29 overs, the partnership between Bracewell and Mitchell Santner ensued. The two put up a record 162 runs in 105 deliveries for the seventh wicket to fight back into the game. 

Santner scored 57 off 45 while Bracewell put up 140. However, Siraj and co were able to somehow overcome the late response from the Kiwis to win the game. After a thrilling first encounter between the two teams, the second ODI will be played in Raipur on Saturday.

Netflix has dived into a new family adventure film ‘We Have a Ghost‘ this February 2023. Netflix’s new family drama show features Anthony Mackie and the popular dancer from Stranger Things David Harbour. The upcoming horror comedy has developed under the working tickle of Ernest of the film like mentioned, developed just upon the short tale published on Vice’s Motherboard from the original post on 19th October 2017

We Have a Ghost: Release Date 

The show was previously scheduled to drop in 2022 which can be seen in the 2022 Netflix film preview, we have learned in August 2022 with several other films. 

According to the sources, the show will hit in January 2023 and Netflix was eyeing the 24th of February 2023 for We have a Ghost. Netflix has confirmed it via Empire Online.

Temple Hill Entertainment is the main production company behind the project. Christopher Landon has taken up both the writing and directing responsibility with the original author of the Vice piece, Geoff Manaugh who has served as the executing producer. 

Landon has recently worked for the horror thrillers like Happy Death Day 2U. We will also get a thriller cast to be provided to us: 

Anthony Mackie’s ninth Netflix Original project. Last time, he was featured in the Woman in the window for Netflix by playing the role of Falcon in 2021 for Disney+ in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. 

David Harbour is coming for his fourth Netflix Original title. 

Tiga Nataro previously featured in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead will appear in it. The role of Natatro has been confirmed to Dr. Le4rslie Monroe. Apart from them, we will see Erica rash, Jennifer Coolidge, Isabella Russo, Niles Fitch, Steve Coulter, and Faith Ford.

We Have a Ghost: Production Status 

 The shooting was originally helmed to get underway in August and run through to September 2021. The shooting was continued till 19th July confirmed by Christopher Landon, and then it was completed on 10th November 2021. It has taken a total of 65 days. 

Christopher has posted several times via the production and provided us with some excellent behind-the-scenes.
