Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal: Gunners defeat toothless Blues at Stamford Bridge

0

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win against London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was a very lacklustre performance from the home team, who only managed to register one shot on target throughout the game.

Although Arsenal themselves had two efforts on target during the entire game, they were much more threatening while in possession, as well as without the ball.

Chelsea humbled by Arsenal for second straight week in the Premier League

The Blues have failed to turn up against Arsenal in almost every fixture for the past few years. And the same pattern repeated itself today, with Mikel Arteta’s side claiming the win.

The only goal of the game was scored by Gabriel Magalhaes, who turned in a corner from Bukayo Saka which evaded everyone.

Last week, Chelsea were humbled by Brighton, while this week they have been defeated by their London rivals who are at their free-flowing best. Moreover, they are the favourites to win the Premier League title this season if they keep up their current form.

The flat display from the West Londoners sees them drop to seventh in the table, behind Brighton, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. Arsenal, on the other hand, are two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Paxten Aaronson, the younger brother of Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson, is expected to join Eintracht Frankfurt in the coming days. The 19-year-old currently plays for Philadelphia Union in the MLS, and is in advanced stages of his transfer to the Bundesliga.

Union were defeated by LAFC in the MLS Cup final, marking the end of the season. And now, the youngster will be moving on to a bigger challenge in Europe, following his elder brother.

Paxten Aaronson on the verge of Eintracht Frankfurt transfer

The transfer will be worth $4 million plus add-ons, and the attacking midfielder will be signed on a five-year contract. He will not be loaned back to the club and is expected to develop with the first team, joining the likes of Giovanni Reyna who is already shining in Germany.

The deal has been agreed upon verbally by the two parties, and only the paperwork needs to be signed. Medical tests to finalise the transfer will be held next week.

This season, Paxten Aaronson made 35 appearances across all competitions, playing 1281 minutes. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in the MLS Next Pro League, which is for the youngsters, in ten appearances.

Twitter launches its USD7.99 a month plan for Blue Check

0

Only a few days after Elon Musk, the newly appointed CEO of Twitter, floated changes to the company’s system for verifying user accounts, including the possibility of charging $8 per month for the privilege, it appears that Twitter has started rolling out a new tier of Twitter Blue, its premium subscription service, which reflects some of Musk’s suggestions.

The updated Twitter Blue will add the blue verification checkmark that was previously reserved for accounts that applied through Twitter’s free verification process, according to an in-app iOS notification spotted by TechCrunch. The upgraded Twitter Blue will start at $7.99 per month. Other advantages promised as “coming soon” include the capacity to post longer videos to Twitter, “half the ads” visible by non-paying Twitter users, and what appears to be “twice as relevant” adverts (Blue previously deleted ads entirely).

By the way, it’s unclear just how long the videos can be. The verbiage describing the new Twitter Blue is vague. Musk, however, stated in a tweet this afternoon that the technical restriction for 1080p video is currently 42 minutes, but he anticipates that this month’s limit will be increased.

What’s not clear is whether users who are already verified on Twitter would lose that status if they don’t pay the $7.99 monthly fee. Although The Verge reported that Twitter was considering removing verification badges from accounts that don’t pay for Twitter Blue within 90 days of the new plan’s launch, the notification’s language makes it seem like this won’t be the case.

In any event, priority ranking for “quality content” will be offered by the updated, more expensive Twitter Blue, which also promises to increase Blue customers’ exposure in replies, mentions, and search. The first tab of the Twitter app’s updated notifications screen by default shows tweets from verified accounts. It will take time to determine whether Twitter’s assertion that this will “lower the visibility of frauds, spam, and bots” is accurate.

Musk had previously stated that Twitter, which recently discontinued support for the ad-free content provided under Blue, will develop a new programme for publishers eager to cooperate with the firm to get around paywalls. The programme doesn’t seem to have made it into the new Blue, at least not at launch, if Musk plans to carry out the suggestion.

The new Twitter Blue, which is initially only available on iOS in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, comes after mass layoffs at Twitter that affected about half of the company’s workforce, including personnel on crucial human rights, accessibility, AI ethics, and curation teams. Twitter faces an estimated $1 billion in interest payments annually on its $13 billion in debt, according to Musk, who also argues that the firm must make the cuts in addition to introducing new paid features in order to become profitable.

AMD X670 motherboards are way costly along with Ryzen 7000 processors

0

AMD has launched the new Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 processors for some time now and it is based on the newer AM5 platform which means there’s a new motherboard. So, users who want to upgrade to AMD’s latest platform with new chips have to pay more because of the new LGA socket.

However, AMD X670 motherboards are way above the expected pricing and even after two months of launch the prices in India come at Rs.28k and above. There are no budget variants which are below Rs.20k and that’s a shame because most people cannot spend that much amount of money on a motherboard, especially in a country like India.

Now, on top of this AMD has another big problem in the form of the 13th gen Intel Raptor Lake processors which have just been announced with very competitive pricing and better performance. The advantage that Intel has this time is the LGA 1700 socket is also compatible with these new processors which means anyone can buy a discounted 12th Gen motherboard and pair it with a more cost-effective Intel chip effectively lower pricing.

Most decent X670 motherboards will cost you above Rs.30k and it just doesn’t make sense to pay so much as of now. So, it is advisable not to go for these expensive motherboards and choose the most price-to-performance option which as of now is the Intel platform.

Gerard Pique turned down Barcelona’s offer to hold a farewell ceremony

0

Gerard Pique played his last game for Barcelona last night against Almeria, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Blaugranas at Camp Nou. The La Masia academy graduate played for his boyhood club 616 times, and has now called the curtains on his illustrious career.

He had a contract with Barcelona until 2024, but decided to terminate it immediately amidst strong criticisms of his performance. The decision was revealed via social media, with the centre-back posting a video to inform the world of his decision.

Gerard Pique refused Barcelona farewell ceremony

The club had offered Gerard Pique the opportunity to announce his decision at a press conference. However, he refused and announced his retirement on his own.

With the rest of the contract refuted, he has saved the club £44 million, which should help with their current difficulties managing the wage bill. Barcelona do plan on paying him his deferred wages at some point.

Pique did say that he would be back at Barcelona someday, and it could be in the form of its president at some point since he intends to run for the post at some point in the future.

At the end of the season, we could see Barcelona bid goodbye to another club legend in Sergio Busquets. The defensive midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and he is expected to leave the club for a new challenge.

0

Ben Chilwell will miss the 2022 World Cup, having sustained a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s match against Dinamo Zagreb. His absence has been confirmed by the club in an official statement, and he could be out of action until February as he recovers.

“Following the injury vs Dinamo, Ben has undergone a scan – results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury, he’s unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup”, Chelsea’s official website read.

Ben Chilwell’s hamstring injury delivers major blow to England squad

“Following my ACL injury I worked so hard to make sure I was ready for the World Cup. It has always been a dream of mine. Unfortunately, this won’t be possible following my scan results. I’ll do all I can to get back playing for Chelsea ASAP. Thanks for the messages of support,” Ben Chilwell wrote on his social media accounts

The left-back exited the field limping against Zagreb, and was seen on crutches. The scans showed that he suffered a tear, and will require rehabilitation for the next few months to get back to full fitness.

Alongside Chilwell, Reece James is also out injured but is facing a race against time to be fit for the World Cup. The right-back has spoken positively about his intentions, and could still make the England squad, unlike his teammate.

Mascot and Ball details about the 2022 World Cup you still might not know about

0

Only weeks away from the 2022 World Cup, there are a number of details that you might still be unaware of. One of those is the mascot of the tournament, which was released on April 1 during the launch event of the competition.

The mascot this year is La’eeb, a white, smiling, football-playing turban which signifies the Qatari culture. The ball with which he was featured is not the same as the Al Rihla (‘the journey’) ball that will be used during the tournament.

2022 World Cup – Details you might have missed

“La’eeb comes from the metaverse of mascots, a parallel universe that cannot be described in words and everyone can imagine it as they wish. La’eeb encourages everyone to believe in themselves,” FIFA said at its launch in April.

The goal of the mascot is to appeal to all audiences of all ages, as confirmed by FIFA themselves.

The official songs of the competition include ‘Hayya Hayya’, released in April, which means better together. “By bringing together voices from the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, this song symbolises how music – and football – can unite the world,” FIFA’s chief commercial officer Kay Madati said.

The 2022 World Cup will begin on November 20, with host country Qatar taking on Ecuador.
