The director of Taiwan’s most significant smartphone chip design firm, MediaTek, told Reuters over the weekend that tensions between China and the United States are forcing some manufacturing companies to discuss shifting some of their supply chains outside of Taiwan.
Some of the “very large (equipment manufacturers) will require their chip suppliers to have multiple sources, like from Taiwan and the U.S., or Germany or Europe,” said MediaTek Inc Chief Executive Rick Tsai. “I think in those cases, we will have to find multiple sources for the same chip if the business warrants that.”
In Sonoma Valley, California’s wine region, Tsai and senior executives spoke with Reuters on Friday outside of a media and analyst event the business was having there. The business has been working hard to expand in the United States, and Tsai stated that the aim was to treble or quadruple revenues, though he did not provide a timeline.

While Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (2330. TW) in Taiwan produces MediaTek’s most cutting-edge smartphone chips, Tsai claimed that GlobalFoundries Inc (GFS.O), which has factories in the U.S. and Singapore, produces some of the company’s older smartphone chips.
credit: economictimes
Tsai also cited an earlier this year announced to produce its chips at Intel Corp’s (INTC.O) fabrication facilities. However, he cautioned that it wasn’t practical for the chip industry to migrate away from Taiwan, the world’s most significant hub for sophisticated chip manufacturing. He added that MediaTek will also be producing chips in TSMC’s Arizona fab once that facility is up and operating.
Today saw the publication of the Top 500 list of the world’s fastest supercomputers. The exascale-class Frontier, which is powered by AMD, remains the fastest system in the world, while Intel struggles with Aurora system delays. However, the list shows that AMD is gaining ground on Intel in more of the top positions. 84% of the new systems added to the list were also AMD-based.
In this publication, 101 of the Top 500 systems are powered by AMD, a 38% increase year over year on a list that normally changes at a rather modest rate. The fact that many of these AMD-powered devices are near the top of the list is even more significant; AMD currently has four of the top 10 positions and twelve of the top twenty. The increasing representation of AMD systems on the list builds on AMD’s impressive performance when it last appeared in June, rising to 93 slots in the top 100.
toms hardware
AMD’s EPYC Genoa processors outperform Intel’s incumbent Ice Lake in every type of workload in addition to being significantly more power efficient, both of which are essential characteristics for the fastest computers in the world. The highest-end Genoa processor has more than twice as many cores as the Ice Lake Xeons, which further contributes to AMD’s performance improvements. Genoa presently has 60% more cores than the as-yet-unreleased Sapphire Rapids, which is expected to peak at 60 cores, thus AMD’s lead should last at least through the upcoming Intel CPU cycle.
Unexpectedly, another new competitor from HPE is powered by AMD’s second-generation EPYC Rome technology. With 384 Nvidia A100 GPUs coupled with AMD’s previous-generation silicon, the supercomputer for the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) demonstrates that AMD can still achieve new victories even with its older hardware.
Speaking of GPU accelerators, there are now nine computers on the Top 500 list that use AMD Instinct accelerators, up from eight in the previous list.
It’s clear that AMD’s Instinct portfolio of accelerators hasn’t been as successful as its CPU offerings, but its switch to Instinct MI200 GPUs built on chiplets may enable it to apply the same strategies as EPYC to start gaining popularity.
The Green 500, a list of the 500 most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world, includes AMD’s MI250X accelerators, which power Frontier, the fastest supercomputer in the world. Additionally, seven of the top 10 most efficient computers are now powered by AMD CPUs, roughly doubling the number of systems the business was responsible for in June.
toms hardware
With more systems overall than AMD, Intel’s CPUs continue to dominate the list. However, AMD’s entry into the top tiers and its share of the new systems demonstrate that its CPUs have a performance edge, providing it with a clear path for growth over the following few years.
The Call of Duty: Warzone 2 debut trailer features action-packed gameplay and more footage of the Al Mazrah map to get players ready for later this week. That Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans have a huge week coming up.
Fans have been anticipating Activision’s November 16 release of the first official season for gamers since the game launched in late October. Numerous pieces of content, including new operators, maps, weaponry, and battle passes, were described in the most recent Modern Warfare 2 roadmap.
credit: ign
But the eagerly awaited Call of Duty: Warzone 2 also launches officially on November 16th. Warzone 2 transports players to Al Mizrah, a location that campaign players should be familiar with, in addition to the new narrative-focused DMZ mode. Being the last individual or group to survive is still the core goal, but Infinity Ward and Raven Software have included several new dynamics, such as numerous zone collapses, interrogation, and more.
Activision has released the official launch trailer for Call of Duty: Warzone 2, which includes plenty of action-packed gameplay and more footage of Al Mizrah, to help fans get psyched for the impending release of the game.
A remixed version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” plays in the background as players engage in combat with explosions and vehicles all around while the camera pans around particular locations on the battlefield.
The struggle against juggernauts in what appears to be one of the Strongholds on the map is shown in the DMZ mode of the trailer halfway through. Activision previously explained that Escape from Tarkov, in which players engage in combat with NPCs and other human threats to scavenge for equipment and ultimately flee through a safe zone, served as inspiration for DMZ. As the trailer demonstrates, this is easier said than done because, at one point, the extraction zone is inundated with adversaries who have parachuted in.

Players still have a few days to get their devices ready for the release of Warzone 2. However, Modern Warfare 2 players may need to perform some hard drive cleaning, especially on consoles, as the experience can now be pre-loaded. The Warzone 2 file size is enormous and contains more than 100GB of data, as most people anticipated. Modern Warfare 2 does allow players to delete specific game components like the campaign, which should help save some space even though it might mean some games need to be uninstalled as a result.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 launches November 16 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Dead to Me (Season 3): Expectation
Crash Aftermath
Ben is presumedly on the way to identify the body of his dead brother Steve, who was hit by the car that Je and Judy had at the intersection. Now the struggling alcoholic had been drinking the whisky and also ran across the stop sign. It is still not clear if he even has the realization about the hit by Jen and Judy, and the pair got a glimpse of Ben before he had been driven away.,
It will weigh heavily on Ben, who has likely to turn to another bottle, mainly if he would think that he killed whoever was in the car, which has not been mentioned as being on the way to identify the dead body of t brother. Jen and Judy are very conscious but still not clear what injuries the pair will sustain.
Charlie gets Judy’s letter
After searching in the room for some weed Charlie gets the letter that his mother had written for Judy. It has still not been revealed if Charlie is reading mainly the letter, but if he has, then he will have learned of Judy’s involvement in the hit-and-run death of his father. This is not to mention the guilt of his mother in killing Steve.
As there is such evidence, it would make him innocent as he is still a suspect in the disappearance of Steve. Charlie has been seen to be extremely rebellious, so he could end up blackmailing Judy and Jen, or he will also make their life hell due to the death of his father.
Jen will be caught or not
Jen was ready to face the consequences of the murder of Steve and also had confessed to detective Perez. After the pair become unable to get the body, and also had a heart-to-heart, Perez let her go free.
Nick who has been jot o the case, and also was given the bag of evidence by Judy to incriminate Steve and the father of Steve. She is wishing that Nick could utilize the evidence to protect Jen, but upon realizing that Jen had not been formally confessed yet, she had to go backtrack.
Charlie has given the letter that Jen has confessed to Perez, and also the body of Steve has been at last found out, there are also many threads on the web that might lead all the way back to Jen to be arrested.
Dead to Me (Season 3): Cast
This third season is featuring Christina Applegate as Jen Harding, Linda Cardellini as Judy Hale, Sam McCarthy as Charlie Harding, James Marsden as Steve/ Been Wood, Max Jenkins as Christopher Doyle, Diana Maria Riva as Detective Ana Perez, Brandon Scott as Nick Prager. As the series is in the early production state so we may hear some additional cast. There is also a bunch of new names that also have been attached to appear for the first time in Dead to Me Season 3. It is just worth noting that all these roles are minor but still worth covering:
Turhan Troy Caylak as Dr. Kaaan AQvbaci
Staci Lynn Fletcher as Nurse Maureen
Justina Lynn Johnson as a Detective
Lana Danielyan as Bartender
Goran Ivanovski as Male Mourner
Ren Burttet as Orderly
In the interview, Liz Feldman spilled the beans on two of the major spoilers in season two. It does not reveal much detail about season 3 that is following, “but she is happy to confirm that the series will continue to navigate and grief. It will also remain committed to normalizing female anger.”
We should also note that Edward Asner, who played Abe Rifkin in season 1 sadly passed away in late 2021. In an Instagram post, Liz Feldman paid tribute saying:” Dearest Ed. Brilliant actor. Generous collaborator. Best of souls. I’ll be forever grateful our paths crossed in this lifetime.”
Dead to Me (Season 3): Release Date
After waiting for years, we have now got knowledge with a release window for season 3 of Dead to Me will be coming on Netflix, and also had been confirmed to fall in 2022.
For the people who are unaware, fall means that Dead to Me season 3 will release sometime between 23rd September and 1st December 2022. The news just come on the same date that Netflix declared a new series, No Good Dead from Liz Feldman.
On 14th January, Christina Applegate had been replied to a fan saying that season 3 will be coming soon but for the moment. We have not got any such concept of when the show will be returning.
The third season of Dead to Me is set to hit on Netflix on 17th November 2022.
The first image of PowerColor Japan’s rumored future Hellhound Radeon RX 7900-series graphics card has been made public. The device will presumably be positioned differently from PowerColor’s Red Devil-branded Radeon RX 7900 boards, which the company teased before.
In the image of PowerColor’s new Hellhound add-in board, three things instantly strike out (AIB). Two eight-pin PCIe auxiliary power connectors, two radiators, many heat pipes, and blue LEDs are all part of the highly advanced three-slot cooling system (or RGB LEDs set to blue).
credit: toms hardware
For AMD’s Radeon RX 7900-based graphics cards, huge coolers will probably be standard, so we are not surprised to see one here. It is a little surprising to find a Hellhound Radeon RX 7900-series graphics card with only two eight-pin PCIe power connectors, given that PowerColor outfitted their Radeon RX 6900 XT and RX 6950 XT graphics cards with three eight-pin PCIe power connectors. However, there is a potential justification for this.
For their top-tier graphics cards, PowerColor uses the Red Devil and Liquid Devil brands, but the Hellhound brand is only used for performance mainstream boards and items targeted at modders searching for fashionable AIBs. The PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 7900-series card looks amazing without a question. PowerColor may have reduced the number of power ports on the Hellhound-branded graphics cards, though, to differentiate them from its top-tier Devil-branded graphics cards. Naturally, this will restrict the product’s power budget and overclocking capabilities, but it should also guarantee that its cooling system is enough for this component.
The question is whether PowerColor will sell the top-tier Radeon RX 7900 XTX card only under the Red Devil and Liquid Devil trademarks and reserve the Hellhound brand for Radeon RX 7900 XT models that are less expensive.
credit: toms hardware
On December 13, AMD intends to begin selling its reference AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX devices, which are expected to compete for the title of top gaming graphics cards. Whether all of AMD’s AIB partners will be able to release their specialized Radeon RX 7900-series devices by that date is still unknown.

AMD has made many comparisons slides between its Radeon RX 7900 flagship graphics card and NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 4080 16GB GPU available (thanks to Tom’s Hardware via VideocardZ). This not only demonstrates that AMD is aiming at the performance of the RTX 4080 with its Radeon RX 7900 graphics cards, but it also indicates that the GPU wars are heating up to a level unseen since the Hawaii GPU era.
The Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX are compared to the forthcoming RTX 4080 on the first presentation by AMD. It is comparing RDNA3 computing units to NVIDIA SMs based on the slides, which is a fascinating comparison to do. AMD is also claiming that 1 of their shader units equals 2 CUDA cores because RDNA3 has 64 shading units per compute unit and Ada Lovelace (RTX 4080) has 128 CUDA cores per SM.
credit: wccftech
Next, a comparison of GDDR6 memory is made, with AMD easily winning with 20 and 24 GB of GDDR6 memory compared to the RTX 4080’s 16 GB. In contrast to the RTX 4080’s 256-bit memory bus width, AMD GPUs have wider memory bus widths of 320 bits and 384 bits. Additionally, we compare the raw performance metric, where shader TFLOPs on the RTX 4080 are 49, whereas they are 52 on the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX. Following a price comparison of the SEPs, AMD reminds everyone that their cards enable DisplayPort 2.1 while NVIDIA only supports 1.4.
The Radeon RX 6950 XT and RX 7900 XT are both shorter and smaller than the RTX 4080, according to AMD.
While AMD will continue to use the common 2x 8-pin connectors that have been the backbone of GPU power for years, the RTX 4080 requires the new and potentially troublesome 12VHPWR socket.
AMD’s RX 7900 XT and XTX will also enable a maximum video bandwidth of 54 Gbps using UHBR 13.5 while NVIDIA will max out at 32.5 Gbps, and they are keen to point out that NVIDIA does not. In contrast to NVIDIA’s ceiling of 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 300 Hz, AMD’s RX 7900 line of graphics cards will be able to support 8K at 165 Hz and 4K at 480 Hz.
credit: wccftech
Additionally, AMD released some performance benchmarks, showing that it was able to outperform the RX 6950XT by 67% in rasterization loads and up to 82% in ray tracing loads. They have also included the FSR ON/OFF numbers as stacked bar graphs in their performance chart, taking a cue from NVIDIA.
Qualcomm probably learned from its mistakes and difficulties after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 fiasco and launched the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 with a considerably improved manufacturing process. The next Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is believed to have these improvements as well as a probable CPU configuration that differs from Qualcomm’s prior flagship SoCs.
All orders for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be handled by TSMC. For those who are unaware, TSMC also mass produces the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 using its 4nm process, thus given the advancements achieved, Qualcomm’s decision to continue with its Taiwanese supplier makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, since the 3nm process is only used for the M2 Pro and M2 Max and Apple is TSMC’s most profitable customer, we do not anticipate the future chipset to be produced on that technology.
credit: wccftech
To meet Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 orders, TSMC will probably reuse its 4nm design, but Qualcomm will make a lot of changes to ensure that it performs better than the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 while delivering improved efficiency. According to a report, the first samples of Qualcomm’s forthcoming flagship chip are more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and are probably going to trump Samsung’s Exynos 2300. With such encouraging news, we are inclined to recommend that Qualcomm continue with TSMC for its most recent launch.
In the race to mass produce 3nm semiconductors, Samsung has defeated TSMC. The first set of products is anticipated to start shipping to clients on July 25 after the Korean firm debuted its 3nm GAA technology over a month ago. Unfortunately, as far as we are aware, no smartphone manufacturer has contacted Samsung about using its 3nm, GAA processors. In terms of Qualcomm, if TSMC starts having issues with mass production, it may begin placing orders with Samsung.
Samsung has been ordered to send 3nm GAA samples to Qualcomm upon request so that the company can determine whether the next-generation node is viable for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Qualcomm might choose Samsung if it offers a better deal than TSMC due to other aspects like costs. Regardless of the supplier it chooses, Qualcomm will carefully analyze its options because it does not want the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to receive as much bad news as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
A “1 + 3 + 4” CPU cluster is what Qualcomm has continued to use, and this includes the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Ultra-performance is brought to the table by the first single core, which is followed by three less powerful cores and four cores that are solely concerned with efficiency. With a reported “1 + 4 + 3” arrangement, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could go in a different path. You may think this CPU cluster is unusual, and you would be right.
It appears that Qualcomm plans to use four gold cores rather than three, giving it a competitive edge over the recently unveiled MediaTek Dimensity 9200, which has a “1 + 3 + 4” design, and other SoCs. The following is a possible configuration for the new CPU cluster, and for completeness’ sake, we have also included the core frequencies.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should be able to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 by 20% while drawing the same amount of power thanks to the additional cores. If you were curious about the Galaxy S23 Plus’s single-core and multi-core performance, leaked Geekbench 5 results showed significant improvements in both tests.
While slower than Apple’s A16 Bionic, the future test device scored 1485 and 4844 points in single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively. Qualcomm is working to gradually decrease this performance gap. Additionally, two variations of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 may be released, each with a different CPU clock speed for a distinct class of goods.
credit: wccftech
While gaming phones might go all out with the best-in-class hardware, manufacturers that desire their devices to have a streamlined form factor could choose a somewhat slower version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is anticipated to be coupled with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon X70 5G modem in addition to the unusual CPU arrangement, achieving new peak download speeds while using up to 60% less power.
