Billy Hogan replaces Peter Moore as the new Liverpool CEO

Peter Moore was appointed as the Liverpool CEO in 2017. He has done a fantastic job in helping the Reds win the Champions League last season and finally ended their 30-year long wait for the Premier League title by winning it this season.

But, surprisingly he will now step down and make way for Billy Hogan, who has been working at Liverpool in various roles since 2012.

Peter Moore told the club’s official website: “I came back to Liverpool in 2017 having been in the US for over 30 years and it’s been such a special experience. My wife and I married here two years ago and we go back to the US to our families with mixed emotions. Excited and looking forward to being reunited with our families and grown-up children in the US, emotional about leaving Liverpool which we’ve loved every minute of the opportunity to make a difference and leave our mark in the history of this great city and club.”

It seems from Moore’s statement that he would step down from the Liverpool CEO’s post due to family reason. So he would be replaced by Billy Hogan in this August.

Billy Hogan told the club’s official website: “On behalf of all our staff, partners and other stakeholders, I’d like to place on record our thanks to Peter for his leadership during the past three seasons and wish him well on his return to the US with his wife Debbie.”

“Having been privileged to work at this club for over eight years, it is truly an honour to take up the role of chief executive officer and continue with the great work that has been done to date across the entire organisation. I thank John, Tom and Mike for this opportunity to lead the business into the next phase of this exciting chapter.”

Moore has been an influential figure behind the scenes at Liverpool. The CEO’s job required Moore to oversee the club’s commercial ventures.

Liverpool saw record profits with Moore at the helm, which has enabled Jurgen Klopp to bolster his side with big-money signings over the past three years.

Hogan will have a big job on hand to replace Moore who had been so successful at the club!
