Bihar Shatters List A Cricket Record with Mammoth 574/6 Total

Ranchi witnessed a batting performance for the ages as the Bihar cricket team absolutely obliterated the record books, piling up an astonishing world-record List A total of 574 for 6 in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group fixture against Arunachal Pradesh. The monumental score easily surpassed the previous benchmark of 506 for 2, set by Tamil Nadu in 2022, to officially claim the top spot in the history of 50-over domestic and international cricket totals.

The record-breaking effort was not merely an innings; it was a three-man batting demolition job, highlighted by three blisteringly fast centuries that left bowlers and statisticians scrambling to keep up with the changing records. This performance firmly establishes Bihar as the first side in List A history to ever breach the 550-run mark.

The Young Prodigy Who Set the Stage Ablaze

At the heart of Bihar’s historic run-fest was a name few expected to dominate the global headlines: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenager played an innings of extraordinary fearlessness, single-handedly turning a routine domestic fixture into a global talking point. Suryavanshi hammered a stunning 190 runs off just 84 deliveries, an innings decorated with 16 fours and 15 sixes.

His performance was littered with individual world records:

• He became the youngest men’s List A centurion after racing to his hundred in just 36 balls.
• Suryavanshi also shattered the record for the fastest 150 in men’s List A cricket, reaching the milestone in a jaw-dropping 59 balls.
• His tally of 15 sixes is the most by an Indian batter in a single List A innings.

Captain Sakibul Gani Unleashes the Final Assault

Just when it seemed the run rate could not possibly accelerate further, captain Sakibul Gani provided the final, mind-numbing flourish. Gani’s late-innings assault pushed the team’s total from mammoth to mythical. The skipper blasted an unbeaten 128 runs off only 40 balls, striking at an unbelievable rate of 320.00.

Gani also rewrote an Indian record, hammering his century in just 32 deliveries to become the fastest Indian to score a List A hundred. This phenomenal feat broke the previous national record held by Anmolpreet Singh, which was set just last season. Gani’s innings featured 10 fours and 12 sixes, confirming the complete destruction of the Arunachal Pradesh bowling attack.

Ayush Loharuka’s Crucial Role in Maintaining Momentum

The foundation laid by Suryavanshi and the finishing act by Gani were seamlessly connected by wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Loharuka. Loharuka’s contribution was essential in ensuring the run-rate never dipped during the middle overs, playing with controlled aggression to keep the pressure on the opposition.

Loharuka struck a powerful 116 runs off 56 balls, a knock comprising 11 fours and 8 sixes. His presence at the crease ensured the momentum was sustained, pushing the Bihar side past the 400 and 500-run marks with ease, setting the stage for Gani’s incredible late surge toward the final, historic total. The JSCA Oval Ground pitch, clearly a batting paradise, allowed the team to showcase the destructive potential of modern limited-overs batting.
