Bhooth Bangla Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar’s Horror Comedy Opens With Promising Numbers — Can It Scare Its Way to a Blockbuster?

Bollywood’s most anticipated horror-comedy of the season is finally here, and the early advance booking signals are cautiously optimistic. Bhooth Bangla, directed by the legendary Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar alongside a powerhouse ensemble cast, opened its advance booking window on Tuesday — and the initial response gives fans a reason to be excited, even if not fully reassured yet.

Bhooth Bangla Advance Booking: Key Details

What Do the Numbers Actually Tell Us?

As of April 14 (midnight), the horror comedy sold around 10,700 tickets in the top two national chains — PVR Inox and Cinepolis — for paid previews and opening day combined, with around 8,700 at PVR Inox and nearly 2,000 at Cinepolis.

That’s a decent start for a mid-budget horror comedy riding largely on Akshay Kumar’s star power and the nostalgia of watching Priyadarshan direct a spooky comedy again. Horror-comedy as a genre has a strong track record in Indian cinema — as Wikipedia notes, films that blend genuine scares with laughs consistently outperform their opening weekend projections through word-of-mouth.

The movie will have its paid previews on Thursday at 9 PM, the night before its full-fledged release. How those previews land with audiences will be the real first test.

The Make-or-Break Factor: Word-of-Mouth

Here’s the honest truth — the Priyadarshan directorial has a good buzz among the audience, but the Akshay Kumar starrer needs better momentum from Wednesday onwards to record promising sales.

As per estimates, Bhooth Bangla is looking at an opening in the range of Rs. 12 crore to Rs. 16 crore, including Rs. 2–3 crore from paid previews. Ultimately, the fate of Bhooth Bangla will depend on its word-of-mouth — if it manages to impress audiences, the horror-comedy will see an instant boost in its collections.
