Bethlehem Kudumba Unit OTT Release Date: When and Where to Watch

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit premieres on JioHotstar on October 2, 2026, marking its OTT debut after completing a record-breaking theatrical run.

From Modest Budget to Record-Breaking Hit

Directed by Girish A.D. and released on August 21 during the Onam festival season, the film went from a modest production to an industry phenomenon, grossing over ₹320 crore worldwide. That haul officially made it the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, surpassing every title before it, and placed it as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2026 overall.

What’s the Story?

The romantic comedy-drama stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, marking their third collaboration together. The story follows Ashley as she settles into a new neighbourhood and gets drawn into the lives of the local “Kudumba Unit” — a Kerala term for a Small Christian Community typically organised under a parish — including her next-door neighbour Justin, a bachelor in his mid-thirties.

Why This Win Matters

This isn’t just another hit — it cements Nivin Pauly’s career resurgence following Sarvam Maya’s success earlier in 2026, and reaffirms Malayalam cinema’s growing dominance at the Indian box office. For a genre as grounded as a slice-of-life romantic comedy to outgross every big-budget Malayalam film before it speaks volumes about audience appetite for authentic, community-rooted storytelling.
