Bayern Munich linked with David De Gea free transfer after Man Utd exit

David De Gea remains a free agent after leaving Manchester United upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June. The goalkeeper has now attracted interest from Bayern Munich as a possible option, according to some rumours

There has also been speculation suggesting that the Bavarians are interested in signing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya. But, the Bees want around £40 million to part ways with their Spanish shotstopper. They have signed Mark Flekken as a replacement for him, but haven’t offloaded the Spaniard as of yet.

During the January transfer window, Yann Sommer was signed from Borussia Monchengladbach as the replacement for Manuel Neuer. The Germany international broke his leg in a skiing accident which ruled him out for the second half of the 2022/23 season.

And now that Manchester United have signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan, the Nerazzurri are pursuing Sommer as a possible replacement. Talks are ongoing between Bayern and Inter for the transfer of Sommer, and an agreement is expected imminently.

Once he is sold, David De Gea would be joining Bayern as the understudy to Manuel Neuer once he returns from injury. But, the likelihood of him willing to accept a deputy role is uncertain for the time being.

De Gea made 511 appearances for Manchester United in a career spanning more than a decade. He kept 169 clean sheets and won the Golden Glove Award in his final Premier League season before exiting the club.
