Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Joshua Kimmich regarding a contract extension. The player has agreed on a new deal until 2025, and the announcement can be expected as soon as the next few days.

Kimmich joined Bayern Munich in 2015 for €8.5 million and has since established himself as one of the key players in the squad. His current deal expires in 2023, and given his importance to the team, Bayern are not taking any chances regarding his future.

The 26-year-old has made 59 appearances for the German national team since making his debut in 2016. He is currently valued at €90 million by Transfermarkt and is among the most valuable midfielders in the world. The player operates in a midfield role but also plays right-back if needed. With the departure of Thiago, Kimmich has taken over the number 6 shirt and is now a full-time defensive midfielder.

His midfield partner, Leon Goretzka is also in line for a new contract from the Bundesliga champions. There were rumours that Bayern’s number 8 was in talks with Manchester United, but there is nothing between the two parties. Goretzka is keen on staying at Bavaria and Bayern will agree on a contract extension with him soon.

Goretzka joined Bayern from Schalke on a free transfer in 2018, and has since established himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Germany, and developing a prolific partnership alongside Joshua Kimmich.

Bayern started off their 21/22 season with a draw against Gladbach and take on Cologne on Sunday next.
