OnePlus India has launched the third edition of its festive campaign, #MakeItSpecial, this Diwali, and this year the brand is turning its lens toward something it hasn’t tackled before: the bond between Gen Z and the generations that came before them, fronted by Indian Women’s Cricket Team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana.

From Furry Friends to Family Generations
The #MakeItSpecial campaign has evolved each year since its debut, having celebrated furry companions in 2024 and sustainability with “Light a Light, Plant a Plant” in 2025. For 2026, OnePlus is exploring how modern, digital-first Gen Z celebrations can coexist with the timeless traditions cherished by older family members, built around the insight that “festivities have no age limit.”
The Film: Two Diwalis, One Celebration
The campaign film follows an elderly couple celebrating Diwali the traditional way, until a video call from their grandchildren, played by content creators Vishnu Kaushal and Govind Kaushal, reveals a livelier Gen Z celebration full of dance challenges and game nights. Smriti Mandhana then walks in and films a new Diwali dance challenge choreographed by internet personality Nicole Concessao on a OnePlus 15, pulling the grandparents into the fun as a playlist runs off a OnePlus Pad 4. By the film’s end, the grandparents are handing out gifts of the OnePlus N6, Nord 6, Nord CE6, and Nord Buds, as the two generations’ celebrations merge into one.

What the OnePlus Team Is Saying
Ishita Grover, Director – Marketing at OnePlus India, said the brand wanted to celebrate the idea that “festivities have no age limit,” adding that the campaign helps each generation “discover how the other celebrates” rather than asking one to become the other. Smriti Mandhana, who fronts the film, said partnering on the campaign felt natural since “it’s about the spirit of togetherness and making memories that last.”
Beyond the Film: A Partnership with Marzi
OnePlus has also partnered with Marzi, described as India’s first premium community for people aged 50 and above, or “Generation Evergreen,” to extend the campaign’s spirit beyond the screen. The collaboration will run a month-long series of shared experiences between Gen Z and Generation Evergreen spanning pickleball, nostalgic games, coffee raves, and pizza making, with registrations opening through a dedicated microsite after October 10.
The campaign film is rolling out across YouTube, Instagram, and X through the festive season, and OnePlus has confirmed that full details of its Festive Sale offers across smartphones and its IoT portfolio will be revealed starting October 8, 2026.
