Barcelona have signed Martin Braithwaite from Leganes for €18M

After getting the green signal from the Spanish federation to sign an emergency signing to bolster their attack, the Blaugranas have not wasted any time by signing the Danish international Martin Braithwaite from Leganes.

The severe injuries of Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele have forced Barcelona to make the emergency signing. Without any negotiation, Barca has paid Braithwaite’s €18 million release clause to bring him as soon as possible.

The club has confirmed that he will be signing a contract with the club that runs until the summer of2024 and will be having an unrealistic buyout clause of €300m.

FC Barcelona have paid the buy out clause of the player Martin Braithwaite and therefore he is no longer contractually tied to Club Deportivo Leganés. The cost of the clause is 18 million euros.

The player will sign a contract with the Club for the rest of the season and four more until 30 June 2024 with the buy out clause set at 300 million euros.

Martin Braithwaite will only be available to play in LaLiga games and this will help the other forwards including Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati.

Although he cannot take part in the UEFA Champions League but the inclusion of versatile attacking player can help them to win the league title and give the other strikers some rest for the Champions League knockouts.

Braithwaite has a total of six goals and two assists in LaLiga this season and apart from having pace and strength, the attacker is a good dribbler as well but will be interesting to see how he adapts to Barcelona’s style of play and player under the tactics of Quique Setien.
