Barcelona’s current managing commission met in an ordinary session today and finalized the details regarding the upcoming Presidential elections, the club posted on their official website.

After weeks on negotiations, the club have managed to agree on the date of the 24th of January to decide the next President of the Catalonian club.

Quoting the official website in context of the election schedule, here is what the club decided on:

The week of 14 December is marked as the beginning of the election calendar, of which more details will be released when necessary. In advance news, on Monday 14 December a meeting of the Managing Commission is planned to approve the calling of elections; Wednesday 16, the official publication of the calling of elections. As such, between 23 December and 11 January, there would be a period for the collection of supporting signatures; between 15 and 22 January, the election campaign

The votes will be polled outside Camp Nou in Barcelona, alongside Tarragona, Tortosa, Lleida, Girona and Andorra. For the people who are eligible to vote but live in other parts of Spain, Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca are the locations where polling will be conducted.

Barcelona confirmed, in the statement, that the health and safety protocols owing to the current pandemic situation will be followed in case of the polling outside of the province of Catalonia.

Former President Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned at the end of October after widespread protests calling for the former President to vacate his post on the back of the 8-2 humiliation to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, who eventually went on to win the tournament.

Financial mismanagement and corruption were the other charges that the Barcelona fans weighed in on the former President to challenge his place in power.
