FC Barcelona is set to reignite its influence in Indian football. Barça Academy is making a triumphant return. After shutting down its academies in India in 2024, the club has now announced a series of Barça Academy camps in key cities. The initiative aims to nurture young talent and instill its signature footballing philosophy.

A Fresh Opportunity for Young Aspirants

In June, Barça Academy will host training programs in four major cities: Ahmedabad (June 2-6), Hyderabad (June 9-13), Bangalore (June 16-20), and Delhi (June 23-27). These five-day camps, in collaboration with Sports NTW, will focus on holistic player development, emphasizing technical skills, creativity, cooperation, and initiative.

To further expand its reach, the club plans to conduct a second series of camps in autumn. This year-round initiative is designed to maximize participation and ensure that Indian youngsters gain exposure to the renowned Barça methodology.

A Pathway to International Exposure

Beyond these local camps, players will also have the chance to participate in elite tournaments like the Barça Academy World Cup, held at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and the APAC Cup.

Such opportunities allow young footballers to test their abilities on a global stage while reinforcing the club’s commitment to nurturing talent worldwide.

A Storied Legacy in India

Barça Academy first established its presence in India in 2010, operating in cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. Over the years, thousands of children have trained in the famous La Masia-style setup, learning the values and techniques that shaped icons like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Gerard Piqué.

However, in 2024, FC Barcelona unexpectedly ceased all its Indian academy operations. “FC Barcelona have informed the families involved in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune will cease to operate as Barça Academies from 1 July 2024,” read an official club statement. Despite this closure, the impact of Barça Academy India remained undeniable—it was the largest grassroots football initiative in the country, providing extensive training, exposure trips, and participation in global tournaments.

By reintroducing Barça Academy camps, FC Barcelona is reaffirming its dedication to the Indian football landscape. These camps will serve as a stepping stone for aspiring footballers, offering them structured training programs led by experienced coaches. The club’s emphasis on technical excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship aligns perfectly with India’s growing football culture.

As the academy resumes operations, young players across the nation will once again have the opportunity to experience world-class training, bringing them one step closer to their dreams.
