A film that flopped in 2007 now has a sequel closing in on Rs. 150 crore. “Awarapan 2” collected Rs. 8 crore on its second Saturday — a 50% jump from the day before — pushing its 9-day total to Rs. 124.75 crore nett, and confirming this isn’t just a hit, it’s Emraan Hashmi’s career-biggest grosser.

Awarapan 2: Day 9 Numbers At A Glance

Week 1	Rs. 111.50 cr
2nd Friday	Rs. 5.25 cr
2nd Saturday	Rs. 8.00 cr

What’s Next For The Film

Backed by Vishesh Films, “Awarapan 2” is expected to see another strong spike on its second Sunday, closing the weekend near Rs. 20 crore and pushing the cume slightly past Rs. 130 crore. The makers are eyeing a full run around Rs. 150 crore nett, though that final number depends heavily on how it holds once Yash’s Toxic arrives and starts eating into screen share in week three.

Why This Sequel Is Genuinely Rare

The original “Awarapan” was a box office disaster in 2007 before slowly earning cult status over the years. A sequel built on that reputation becoming a Super Hit — and Emraan Hashmi’s biggest grosser ever — is close to unprecedented in Hindi cinema. It also arrives on the back of a broader genre revival: last year’s success of intense musical love stories reminded the industry of Emraan Hashmi‘s peak run of films like Murder 2, Raaz 3, and Jannat 2 in the early 2010s, setting the stage for this comeback.
