A film that flopped in 2007 is now on track to become a certified blockbuster in 2026. Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has held its ground impressively even on a regular Monday, keeping the film firmly on track for a blockbuster run. For a sequel to a movie that was once labeled a box office disaster, this kind of momentum is nothing short of a redemption arc.

How Awarapan 2 Performed On Monday?

The film collected around Rs. 9 crore nett on Monday, a 60 percent drop from its holiday-boosted opening day. That’s actually considered a strong hold for the genre, especially given how big the opening was. With this, the four-day total has crossed Rs. 90 crore nett, and trade estimates suggest a discount-day surge today could push it past the Rs. 100 crore mark. The first week is expected to land close to Rs. 115 crore nett.

Awarapan 2 Day-Wise Box Office Collections

Day	Nett Collection
Friday	Rs. 22.50 crore
Saturday	Rs. 33.00 crore
Sunday	Rs. 26.00 crore
Monday	Rs. 9.00 crore
Total	Rs. 90.50 crore

What makes this run genuinely remarkable is the film’s backstory. The original Awarapan, released in 2007, was a box office disaster upon release but later built a strong cult following over the years, similar to how many cult films gain lasting popularity long after their theatrical run ends. With intense love stories and hit music trending again, the timing worked perfectly in Hashmi’s favor, reviving a genre he once ruled with films like Murder 2 and Jannat 2.

What’s Next For Awarapan 2

The coming weekend is competition-free, but Toxic arrives next Wednesday, which could test the film’s second-week hold. How Awarapan 2 handles that competition will decide whether it locks in blockbuster status for good.
