Avengers: Doomsday Costume Revealed: Rebecca Romijn Ditches the Blue for a Comic-Accurate White Uniform

Blue skin, out. White regalia, in. A fresh wave of Avengers: Doomsday merchandise has given fans the clearest look yet at Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, and the redesign is a big departure from the Fox X-Men films. For more MCU news, follow TechnoSports.

Mystique in Doomsday: Overview

What’s New in the Design?

The merch shows a comic-accurate uniform with long sleeves, a high collar, white pants and blue accents, topped with a small skull-style tiara. The look echoes the classic Mystique design from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Her hair is shorter than in the comics, and the traditional skull belt buckle has been swapped for an X, which signals her alliance with the X-Men.

A Big Break From the Past

In the Fox films, Mystique was known for bare blue skin and scales, with no uniform at all. Doomsday moves away from that and takes a more conventional approach. The Direct suggests this is a new version of the character with a new backstory, and, unlike before, she’s aligned with the X-Men rather than playing a villain.

The Wig Debate

The trailer gave only a brief glimpse of her upper torso, and fans mostly focused on Romijn’s red wig. The clearer merch images give a fuller view of the shorter hair and the whole outfit. Reactions to the redesign have been mixed, which is why the reveal was closely watched.

Friend or Trojan Horse?

In the trailer, Mystique clashes with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, but that rivalry looks temporary. The Direct raises a theory: since she can become anyone, Doctor Doom might use her to divide the heroes. It’s speculation, and nothing in the marketing confirms it. She could just as easily stay loyal.
