Despite investing heavily in the transfer market this summer, there hasn’t been a significant return in terms of results. The team is currently 17th in the table with only nine points so far.

“It’s tough but I’m a man, I accept it, I understand it. We’ll see what happens — I’m a fighter, I will never ever quit anything”, Gerrard said after the loss against the London club.

“Quitting is not in my DNA. But the reality is that it’s not good enough for this club,” he added.

The full-time quotes did not age well, since he would be relieved of his duties shortly after.
