Apple’s Foldable iPhone May Launch in 2026, Priced Around ₹2 Lakh

Apple appears to be actively working on its first foldable iPhone, and if ongoing rumours are accurate, the device might make its official debut in 2026. Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reaffirmed this timeline and said the first batch of foldable iPhones may start production in the third quarter of 2025. For anyone eyeing a next-gen iPhone with a foldable screen, new facts are starting to emerge.

Foldable iPhone Tipped for 2026 Launch with ₹1.73–2.16 Lakh Price Tag, Production May Start in Late 2025

If Apple goes ahead with the launch next year, the iPhone Fold could be unveiled at its 2026 fall event, which could also see the unveiling of the iPhone 18 series. Kuo indicated that Apple would rely on production partner Foxconn to begin assembling the product in the third or fourth quarter of 2025. However, he also points out that Apple is pressing on with finalising the hinge itself, and that’s a critical part of any foldable’s durability and usability.

While the hinge mechanism remains undecided, Apple has reportedly finalised the folding display, which is being manufactured by Samsung Display (SDC). The supplier is setting up capacity to produce about 7 to 8 million foldable panels annually, although only a portion of that will likely be used in the first year. Interestingly, while Apple may have ordered 15 to 20 million units, the company could be spreading production over multiple years, including 2027 and 2028, to manage the rollout of this premium new device.

Given its innovative design and hardware complexity, the foldable iPhone is expected to come with a premium price tag. Reports suggest the device could be priced between $2,000 to $2,500, which roughly converts to ₹1,73,000 to ₹2,16,000 in India. As for what to expect, earlier leaks hint at a book-style foldable design with a 7.8-inch inner display featuring a “zero-crease” look.

The outer screen may measure 5.8 inches, while the build could involve a titanium alloy frame and a metal-glass or steel-aluminium hinge. Additional features might include dual rear cameras, single cameras on both cover and main screens, a high-density battery, and Touch ID integrated into the power button.
